What's killing me is that I'm 142 in race trim and he averaged just below my SST wattage for 2 plus hours on a 'commute'.

Really good group ride tonight. On the warmup loop my legs really felt like rubbish. Heavy and they felt really sore, still effects from Monday I assume. But, once we started the ride, I was riding really well compared to the other guys, which is a good sign for me. I attacked a bunch, got into a 2 man break with a teammate and just buried myself at every chance I had. Going up one hill I hear some guy from behind me say "remember when he was slow? I like it when he was slow."

Tomorrow is an easy day or off completely, friday is 3 hours with vo2 intervals to start it off.

was having a great time on the wednesday nigh training ride, was being really active, hard pulls, attacks, chasing down breaks, after like an hour i dropped back into the pack for a rest for a little bit and promptly hit a pothole that didnt get called till it was too late and i had no where to go.

hit it so hard it wrneched my bars forward like 30 degrees, and pulled my rear brake shut. took me two minutes to get the bike working again and then 45 minutes alone to chase down the 20+ strong group. cracked like an egg right after i caught on.

hell of a work out though.

rest day tomorrow.

another day off the bike... 2 weeks now with ~ 2 rides. This can't become a habit. Unfortunately, weather is ass right now. unlikely to get another workout in before racing this weekend... Trying to talk Nate into racing with me =) Everyone give him some encouragement.

At least I'll be fresh.

AlexTaylor - power is fun, but, take the results over power output any day of the week

EDR & UMD - thanks (I'll try the "other thread" technique)

Badhat -- I was worried you were gonna say you tumbled; glad it was just minor stuff.

JB - NATE, c'mon, do it man!!

75" on the trainer. I had no real plans until 5 min into the warmup I decided I was going to stay above 100rpm for an hour. As I got into it I managed 30 zone 4 HR and then 15 at zone 5 LTHR. Doesn't mean much but I felt like a BMF when done. 36/19,17,16 gearing.

My legs have been sore for a month. Not terrible, just that worked feeling when you stand from a seated position or walk up stairs. Taking 3 days off, then going back to my (now sub) 20-minute hill to see if I've actually improved.

Got in 40' over lunch. New 1' PR by 40 watts and bumped up the MMP from 30" to 1'30".

Started raining hard so I cut the ride short. I think I've been doing too much time and intensity lately and that's what has been burning me out. Was it Friel that said you should feel like you could have kept going at the end of a training ride? I haven't felt that way all summer. Until today that is.

It's too hot and humid outside right now, so I spent 45 minutes indoors on rollers after packing my bags. 235w, 146hr, worked up a little bit of a sweat. I only fell into the wall once, which I guess is good since it's only my second time ever on rollers, still working on my balance when grabbing a drink.

When I started I kept my rollers parallel to a sofa. Made for a more pleasant bailout.

So i am clinically diagnosed with EIA. it happened today earlier. The doc said that without the inhaler i could lose as much as 25% of my lung capacity? that could explain the horrible racing i've been doing this year.

On a positive note the Doctor is bringing me back in for a VO2 test...for free compliments of the US Navy. what will doing the test help with training?

any info would be great.

I did a lengthy warmup, then 3 uphill kilos with a ride down the hill as a rest, then rested for about 5 minutes and did 5 uphill 200m sprints standing the entire way; then a nice cool down.

During the first sprint, a cow -- let's call her Jill -- in a pasture next to the road noticed me while drinking from a water source. When I came down the hill, the cow kept looking. By the third sprint, all the other cows had joined Jill in watching me. By the fourth sprint they were all up against the barbed wire looking my way. I kept moving forward after the fifth sprint as I sensed it was close to dinner time. These cows were definitely friendlier than the cows on the farm that we are renting; although, if I went up to the fence, they probably would have backed off a bit or bolted.

It looks like the rain is more or less staying away tonight during the time and place of the local hammer ride. Now I wish I hadn't gone out for a hard ride this AM.

4 of us showed for a new-to-the-boston-area group ride. basically rode z2 or did vo2 max ride people off my wheel pace on the 4 hills. perfect course for 3.5-4.5' intervals. did 4 such intervals all around 450w ap.

then did a sprint, shazmed it:

Peak 10s (1614 watts):
Duration: 0:10
Work: 16 kJ
TSS: 0.8 (intensity factor 1.718)
Norm Power: n/a
VI: n/a
Pw:HR: n/a
Pa:HR: n/a
Distance: 509 ft
Min Max Avg
Power: 1444 1791 1614 watts
Cadence: 45 114 101 rpm
Speed: 30 36.5 34.2 mph

oh, and the low carb diet is rockin. down 6 lbs in the past 3 weeks (mostly water/glycogen, I know). much easier to control cravings. low cafeine is doing wonders, also. weird. i feel like a new man.

45' min on the trainer 2(5x2x1) hitting a couple of numbers above my LTHR each interval. Concetrated on keeping a 120 cadence. This seems to help me hit the numbers I'm looking for. 2 70+ mile rides on the schedule this weekend.

For an easy/medium day, I took a route to a new village. When I got to a key juncture, the road kept going down and down and down and down. After I passed a sign indicating that I'd gone about 4km down, I went another km or so, called off the jam, climbed my way out and then finished off the ride on a nice sequence of rollers with one more big up of about 1.5km.
