Resting Heart Rate 50
Weight 167
No back pain, Feel Better, Muscle definition starting to form

Seems to be going well and will definatly help with the bike fitness.
I've been sort of interested in P90X just for the functional strength (hopefully) it wolud provide over traditional gym work.... but I can't do the 6 work outs a week on top of my cycling training and right now that is more important to me

thats the thing with P90X you can do it that way, if you want, and use sections of it to train. I use the legs and back and ab ripper all summer and the rest of it is a good way to go for preseason training. it gets to be a bit heavy when I get to 6 days on the bike and 6 days of P90X but it works so well its worth it to me any ways, and Ive seen gains on the bike due to it.

Darb, I'm glad it's working for you and I'll second the benefit that core work provides for on the bike strength.

I would say that if you're actually out of shape and new to the bike, then just riding more will = gains on the bike. P90x/other programs for core work and back strength are great though. If you have higher endurance in those areas, your form will be much better as time goes on.

So you're definitely not hurting anything

actually my bike shape is great, I rode 4200 miles last summer, and competed in my first race so now im just trying to get it better over all shape, but I do have to spend more time on the bike, but thats stalled for now, The bike is at my shop waiting for its long delayed Force parts so ya its stalled.

Kenpo From p90x today. amazing work out but annoying all the same. to much coordination sometimes

Oh that's right, riding bikes with your friends outdoors is a lot of fun. 4 hours with the girls. Quite often on this ride I am the nail. Today I was the hammer.

We have a new kitten who has been playing all night and knocking stuff over in the apartment. She used to just cuddle with me most of the night and occasionally just try to get me up earlier than usual. Yesterday, I managed to nap, but after a week off the bike due to school stuff and weather, today was rough after a second night of kitten-interrupted sleep. My bum ankle was really pissed off at me (it's been extra bad this winter). HR was too high from my lungs hating the cold. I'd been breathing through a fleece neck gaiter most of the winter to keep the air humidified, but today it was too warm to wear it. My lungs disagreed. My legs hurt a lot. I'm not sure if this should go in the failure thread. I told my legs to shut up, and I did everything I set out to do, but I was not feeling anywhere near as good as I did a week ago. Good thing I had no plans of doing the first collegiate race next weekend.

When were you out? I just got in 3.25hr of riding and felt damned well even with a dinged knee and the 7x5x1 yesterday. Tomorrow's a day off.

Starting C's. By the way, your school's crit last year was pure misery.

fify.

We thought about cancelling, and the usac officials said something to the effect of: no worries, we'll make it safer by shortening the course.

I see from the race proposal that you guys aren't doing that awkward corner from last year. The one that put you directly into 50mph headwinds. But it looks like you have a short climb built into the course now, if I remember correctly.

The awkward corner was the result of the shortening of the race course. Had it been the regular course, people would have gone straight into gale force winds that's often present on 120th street and was only intensified that day.

As for climbs. There's none. The finishing straight is on an uphill drag, and there's one short punch that's one block long. Hopefully, you are sitting at the front of the race so you'll be able to carry speed into it and only start driving it 1/2 way up.

I had a great ride today. Weather was right around 40 degrees and it felt great. Ended up with 38 miles and had an average wattage of 207 watts for the first two hours. I'm happy with that kind of number this time of the year.

Late morning/early afternoon. I saw you guys and said hi but I don't think you saw me.

My best 20' effort today was better than my 20' test last Thursday. And that included stopping twice to let everyone catch up and get back on my wheel, and it was after 3 hours of attacking each other on the hills.

I always wave . I think i saw you when you were going south on 9W, right past Lamont Observatory?

As for the 20' power, good job. It's also quite a bit harder to squeeze power out of a trainer session when working out inside.

2 hour ride as I feel today. It was a chainless day where all higher power and cadence felt easy. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts.

CTL has plunged from 70 in late December to 27 as of yesterday... kids, this is what injury will do to your stats..

But I was able to put in an hour on the trainer yesterday, and it went well! Feels good to spin again, looking forward to taking the show outside again.

Got outside yesterday and did 60 miles in the 3 hrs solo. Did a bit of threshold for the first hour, and then mostly tempo for the next two. Total work was 2640 kj and AP was 240. Rest day today and I can use it.

2 weeks, but i was in the doldrums as far as fitness was concerned for the following 2.5 months. My weight went up, and my level of perceived exertion was high, but i didn't notice any improvement in fitness. Your fitness level is probably a lot higher than mine, so i think you'll have an easier time gaining fitness. It took some serious tempo/SST work on a group ride (i'd estimate the TSS to be about 300) to finally kick things in the right direction.
