Oh, wait, you meant fast on a bike.

I found a map my ride profile of E.Hawley...looks like it kicks up to 9~10% right in the middle for a 1 1/2 mile stretch. It also has 8~10% sections at the beginning; I foresee much destruction.

My legs always feel better after one or two hard efforts. I plan to ease into the climb, building as the legs come in.

Some bad pavement on that first downhill, stay towards the middle of the lane and you'll be ok most of the time.

Pretty sure I have this correct (and not confusing it with Housatonic Hills).

There is one 20 minute climb towards the beginning, and the pack will split up most likely. I did 330 watts for 20 minutes on this climb and BARELY stuck with the lead cat4 group. I weigh 160.

The rest of the time we spent a LOT of energy trying to stay away from the group who caught us. There is a lot of wind and this doesn't work in favor of a small group. At the end, rest of the racers caught us. The hill at the end there is a decent hill too, and it is windy to boot.

If your FTP is decent, you should be fine, as long as you dont try and play Contador and respond to the pure climbers... unless you're one of them. In which case, i hate you already.

But, this is a stellar race, so come out and have some fun!!
Are you getting paid to race here?...The more posts I read in this thread, the steeper the course becomes...

Man, I'm farked. 330W for 20 mins? That's 4.5w/kg. There's no way 4's are doing that for 20 mins, right? Holy crap...

I think he's a bit full of it, I have a hard time imagining Cat4's putting out that kind of power. I did 3.7 watts/kg last weekend and it took me 20 minutes. 4.5 would shave off over 2 minutes, which can be made up over the next 32 miles.

LMFAO!

Well, I wouldn't have if some idiot who called himself a bike racer hadn't hit his brakes after cutting right in front of me...

In any event, the plan is to 'not crash at all' as you had said.

BG: I'll be in a while/black/orange CVC kit with a brushed AL caad9.

Maybe he weighs more than he thinks he does

Maybe I could do 4w/kg for 20 mins. That's what I've been hoping for. I was able to put out that much power in April. Lets see if I still got it!

I just need to fuel right before/during. I haven't done a race this long, well, ever...

Haven't ridden a really long ride in 2 weeks either. Oh well.

Now my big decision is whether to race my training wheels or my race wheels. The race wheels are 41mm vs 27mm, but have a good 300 grams more weight on them...
