Hire Cippo and Rhasan Bahati to be my leadout train, then somehow come up with 2000 watts of fury when they drop me off with 300m to go. That's about all I can think of.

Where did Tyler come from anyway? All of a sudden he was just winning.
Oh, and for the OP, the way I would beat Cavendish is to have Chris Hoy hang out in the crowd near the finish line, then when nobody was looking I'd have him slip onto the road in the peloton about 2k out, get on Cavendish's wheel, and then come around him. Problem solved.
