Tyler Farrar bobblehead
I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
What's with Tyler Farrar's bobblehead action in the heat of the sprint finish? If I'm his coach I'm asking him to smooth out his technique, stay low and steady to give him a better chance on the line.

Ever seen the Merckx bob? Get your old tapes out and check it.
Style's aren't always pretty, but nobody argues with success.
Arnie Palmer would be another example.

This thread is as good as any other for a bump....
I'd love a Tyler Farrar bobble-head considering the way he is on fire this last bit of the season!
He has been beating down all the other sprinters like "Whack-A-Moles" over the last few sprint-finishes.
With competition like Danilo Napolitano, Tom Boonen, & Caspar, J.J. Haedo it isn't like he is taking on nobodies either. three cheers for the local boy! (Wenatchee is close enough to Seattle for me to claim him

But I'd still like to see him beat Cav some time, if possible.

It will be interesting, in all seriousness, to see how Cav matches up with what may be a less effective leadout next season. I think Hincapie means more to that train than some might realize and he'll be impossible to replace in the last 2k.

Beat him with what, like, with a stick after the sprint's over?

really, I'm chortling at my desk....
I agree about george,
It also may be harder if Andre is healthy all next year, I think the team might get split up a bit more to support both sprinters.

Griepel can't hold a candle to Cav. If I'm Cav and they start supporting him, I'm going to beat him out of spite.
Now, I could see them splitting them up and sending them to different races, but Cav is the sprinter for that team. They'd be crazy to support anyone else if they can hold a leadout together at all.
But then, Cipo won his share of sprints without a leadout, so maybe I'm not giving Cav his due. We'll probably find out when Garmin starts coming over the top of Columbia next year in the last k.

Agreed, Cav is a better sprinter.
However, consider how good Griepel is- when he raced this year, he won. simple as that.
The possibility is very high that Cav is going to Sky... it will be his decision, but he is guaranteed to be courted hardcore and they have a lot more money than anyone else in the sport.
I think Columbia-HTC need to at least keep Griepel content or they could go from two of the three best sprinters in the sport right now (IMO) to zero in about one season.

I think we all know that he would have been contending for the sprint had he not flatted just a few kilometers before the line...
This Tyler is so much better than that last guy.

two completely different animals
stage win sprinters don't usually win LBL, or Oly TT gold medals
And for the record, I believe I was touting Farrar as the next great thing before anyone on BF knew his unpronouncable name. Same goes for Van Garderen.

Actually, in 2014, the survivors of the human race will probably be fending off giant radiated cockraches with iPod's strapped on their backs, trying to keep them away from our dinner; a fuzzy, giant tarantula. But that's another topic.
