I did my first TT!
So this morning I did my first bike race of any type - a 10K (6.21 mile) TT. I wasn't even planning on doing it, but one of the organizers of a new team I'm going to be joining (Expo / Superior Energy) told me about the TT and invited me to come try it out. It was a pretty laid back event, and I had a good time.
The course was pretty challenging. It started with a 4-5% grade and was rolling hills the entire time. I didn't have aero bars or any aero equipment, I even showed up with a saddle bag and a frame pump, but one of my buddies told me to remove them haha.
I started 3rd to last, just by chance, but I think it was a good think for me mentally as I only got passed by my minute man. I am a a 130lb 17 year old, so TT's are not exactly my discipline, but I still put in a good effort. I could not have gone any harder. I think I actually went out too hard, as by the 10 minute mark my legs were filled with lactic acid and I had to ease up for few seconds to relieve the pain.
I only ended up with an average speed of 20.44. Not really that impressive, but whatever. I couldn't have gone any harder and I wasn't prepared at all (didn't know I was doing the TT until 10:00 last night). The guy who won was on a Specialized Transition and he was moving! I had "fun" and would definitely like to try more TT's in the future. I wish I had some more cash to invest in wheels, an aero helmet, aeros bars, etc., etc.
Sorry for rambling, I just figured I'd share my experiences from my first TT.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Keep racing. And when you get a TT bike, drive us all crazy with the TT fit process. I did it here for over a year, and it actually worked.

Way to go!
You did much better than I did in my first TT. My wheel skewer became loose in the start house and my wheel jammed about 100M from the start. I fell on my ass in front of everybody and lost about a minute of time trying to fix it. D'oh.
I figured that at the very least my next TT would go better!

nice job! It takes a lot of guts to even go up to the start line. There are many people who could, but never will. You just distinguished yourself from them. Welcome to bike racing!

Well done! Depending on where you are at in CT, catchup with BF'ers Carpe Diem Racing and ridethecliche, and sneak in a training Crit or two before the annual ice age hits.
I gotta admit it does my heart good to know there is at least something you 130 lb guys have a disadvantage at.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm definitely going to try more TT's in the future, and I want to get some aero bars to get my position a little more aero.
