Eat normally. Don't go adding variables to your performance. If you know how to refuel from training, you'll be fine. Just eat the same stuff and don't freak out.

Hi,

Good thing I wasn't drinking something when I read this.

To Sin,

Eat whatever you normally eat before a hard training ride. Don't eat something different before a race. Your stomach may not like it when under stress.

I don't know about you low BMI guys but it takes me 2 hours to blow through my on board fuel stores with just eating my normal unhealthy diet. Unless the grade is over 11% I would think you could manage 17 miles in that amount of time.

I would go with a bottle of heed or something similar.

what you eat the day before is of insignificant consequence compared to what your body is rebuilt with day in and day out

it is my understanding that the average dude has ~1500kcals of glycogen capacity, 500-600 of which are in the legs

so bare minimum take in 125g of carbs the morning of

Today...

Breakfast
-----------
1/2 cup oatmeal w/raisins and honey
1/2 cup greek yogurt (I've been doing this daily since I had gastroenteritis last month)
2 cups of coffee

Mid-morning snack
---------------------
A handful of almonds (raw). Somewhere between 8 and 10.

Lunch
-------
Indian food (Aloo Chole w/white rice and garlic naan),
diet coke.

Afternoon snack
------------------
6 almonds.

After work
------------
Glass of red wine, and I'll probably grab a peach in a minute.

Dinner tonight (planned)
----------------------------
Two soft shell fish tacos, some chips & salsa, and a beer (dos equis lager).

Maybe a small cup of ice cream, maybe not.

It's not the healthiest, but it's what I ate/am eating today.

Not to hijack your thread, but...

I was in the hotel lobby this morning with OUCH and Quickstep teams.
Brad White was explaining to the Euros that the chipped beef stuff in the breakfast buffet wasn't oatmeal. He was trying to explain the concept of S on a Shingle.

That's hilarious.
Just this year I was trying to explain it to my teenagers.

And to complete today's menu, Cervelo, Columbia, and Kelly Benefits were all at the mexican place in Sedalia tonight, along with half of the race entourage. Since they're racing tomorrow, we can cal that their pre-race meal.
