Went crazy today with the diet, went crazy last night at the Disneyland Buffet, will probably go crazy up in SF when visiting family. Hopefully all this riding will offset all this junk.

I've been.. not succeeding with eating clean here in phoenix. Thankfully I've lost so much water weight due to the 0% humidity that I can't really sense the fat yet.

Cleaning up the frig tonight using lots of leftover materials.

First I had a lot of unused green beans. So I boiled them for 12 minutes and tossed them with a lot of chopped cilantro (kind of a pre-emptive leftover because I need a little bit tomorrow for something else) garlic, and olive oil. Then to the frig and later I will add lemon juice and black pepper.

Lots of potatoes and scallions left over from the holidays, so ....

... scallion mashed potatoes are on the menu tonight!

Some pan fried chicken breast slices with capers and flat leaf parsley will be the meat course.

Tomorrow night I promised my MIL that I would cook grouper with a macadamia nut, cilantro and panko topping for everyone. I bought the macadamia nuts and she bought the grouper. Steamed asparagus and scalloped potatoes with fennel root will accompany.

I had better go on a long ride tomorrow.

Showed up to work after 3 weeks off to find various gifts of junk food on my desk. They're out for others to eat now. Hopefully my coworkers will eat them before I am tempted.

156 this morning, 6 weeks to go, 8 pounds to lose.

Toast it, then smother it with corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut.

Or cube it up, toss it with olive oil and a mix of herbs, salt and pepper, then toast it into the oven to make rye croutons.

They used to call that a starvation diet back in WWII. I can't even manage 2000 calories a day if I'm completely sedentary.

there's no way this is under 1400. 3 pieces of pizza is probably 1000 on its own.

Is that a typical day? You don't eat any fruits/vegetables besides a salad? Are you taking supplements?

Yurp, also like, no nutrition. Substitute pizza for chicken and rice, substitute bacon for greek yogurt with some honey...yadda yadda.

how is bacon, eggs, and pizza trying hard.

eat whole grains, lean protein. unprocessed food. all the veggies you can eat. a few pieces of fruit.

12 miles a day isn't a work out, despite what some fitness magazine might tell you.

we're lost. utterly lost as a country. The ignorance around diet is just utterly insane.

I ate a huge salad and they were small pieces. And the salad has berries and pecans in it.

I am tempted to eat a lot more, and what do you have against eggs? I just said what I ate that day. I don't know anyone male anyway that only eats brown rice and vegetables.

You're tempted to eat more because your diet sucks. High on fat, low on protein, low on any kind of decent carb source, low on fiber/vitamin rich foods.

Are you training to race, or just posting in here for the fun of it? We assume the former as that is what this section is all about, but if it's the latter I would lurk more and post less.

Question - Post ride re-fuel??? I'm talking non-processed - no trash milk with gum and sorbate, etc. I was doing really good back during base... now with the harder efforts mixed in... I fear I'm not hitting the gly window soon enough with the right stuff.

My requirements - whole food / non processed - no artificial anything... help!

Thanks - Geo

our dietary habits are largely formed relationally. just because the majority of folks eat a certain way it doens't make it healthy, supportive of the needs of a racer, or even tasty. Red herrings are typically met with derision here…no one said 'only brown rice and vegetables.'

If you're not training to race, you will not get answer that mean anything to you in this section. We train, eat, recover ect in ways that help us go faster. You might not care about that, which is fine, but don't expect to get the best answers as they will be tailored to similar people. Also, you may want to grow some thicker skin before trolling forums.
