2009 flyer
https://www.bikedoctor.com/bd_trade_z...09_bayside.pdf

2010 will be pretty similar. it's an industrial park crit, flat, non-technical and round, with some wind. clockwise course. decent pavement with a rough section before the last turn (it's not bad but racers lacking confidence complain about it). not much else to tell. be there in february, it's a good place to try racing and get starts in for 5-->4 upgrade, and good training for the more experienced.

The course is a triangle. 3 sharp right turns. Pretty flat.

Try to not have this happen to you: https://www.vimeo.com/3582239 (I am the guy in white; no real harm done to me or the other rider).

whats wrong with being motivated for next year now? not all of us race cross...

MDCatV, so I take it these races go toward a CAT 5's 10 mass starts that are needed to go up to CAT 4?

Anyone know of any other early winter races? Thanks

correct

other early season races, check out va cycling, I think they have some type of "training race" series in feb/march.

also, used to be a cold toes training series out by dulles that hasnt happened for a couple of seasons as it's been replaced by an "in season" race instead.

+1 Keep a close eye on VCA's web site.. there is a tentative 2010 calendar up already and teams and promoters are working hard to get some early training races/ events on the calendar. The VCA annual meeting is in mid November so hopefully by December the early part of teh 2010 calendar will be fairly solid.

Confirmed riders list, March 15th 2009 Tradezone:

https://www.bikereg.com/events/ConfList.asp?EventID=7657

The 4/5 race should tell the story. Dunno the typical distribution of 5s vs 4s there, but you can see that you're racing mostly attached racers.

Even at the Cat 5 level, many racers in/around DC are members of clubs.

This is a training race that frequently sells out for the B and C events. If you're a Cat 4, you should do the B race and give more new folks a chance to race. (Lots of folks double up by racing the A and B races though, maybe you can do that with B and C?)

So what happened there? He went for the gutter and then came back in on you? I guess I'm a wuss, but looking at these crashes gets to me.

(I'm missing the crashing on dirt of CX already).
