Sorry to hear about your accident. Maybe now you will cut me some slack when I talk about riding in the drops, witnessing a horrible accident can really change how you race and I am sure you may have some good insight for us on what the cause was and how it might have been avoided. We all can learn from first hand reports.
You'll be back racing strong soon, just give it time to work itself out.

your trek breaks and you cry out in outrage and your specialized breaks and you plan to buy another
im just kidding WR. when i was younger my mom wrecked in a race and her specialized helmet did a fantastic job at keeping her safe. (i actually think specialized gave her a "trade in" on it) i was also wearing one when i went down HARD off road. i had a bad concussion but i am sure it could have been much worse.
its good to see you posting agian WR. i really apreciate your sarcasum, humor, and insight.

Yeah, I think any certified helmet would behave at least as well as mine. Nothing too special about the specialized, but the hole shape fits my noggin nicely, and I couldn't have asked much more of it in this crash.

In my recent crash I hit my head on the road and my Specailized helmet saved my butt (brains...same thing). Anyway, I think they make a damn fine product.

Dang! Just got a hint of this while skimming the twitter feed thread. Glad to hear you are relatively ok. Sorry to hear about the crash. I hope the family is taking this well. That's one thing I worry about if I were to crash badly. Get well soon. Loved the chart LOL.

I just got back from the trauma surgeon for an eval. He said all looks good, but no concussions allowed in the next 6 weeks, and no riding on the road for the next month. EDR's going to loan me a trainer

It's a bugger, but you may need a functioning brain outside of cycle racing. At least you don't have to stop riding entirely. Hopefully the 6 weeks passes quickly.

Some months ago "Real Sports" did a segment on concussions. Recently they did an update segment. It is very interesting and is still on HBO on demand. There was a guy with a brain bank of ex-NFL players' brains.

When I was watching the show, my girlfriend ask if the brain shown was Abby Normal.
