So I didn't know who LMFAO was. I'm so out of touch.

Ken,
Next time we meet in person I'll tell you about "The Motor City Madman" when he was in between the Amboy Dukes and "Cat Scratch Fever". He was so hard up for $'s that he played my dinky college (IIT in Chicago when I was an undergrad.). Lot's of "back stage" stories that I will not post here, but they are freakin' hilarious. And when you hear them lots of what you might know about "Teddy" will make a lot more sense.

I think that I paid $1 to see Ted Nugent play, but I could have gone for free because I was friends with almost all of the guys working the lights and back stage.
Speaking of getting to see great artists for almost nothing I saw Philip Glass and his Ensemble at a high school gym for just a couple of dollars back in the early 1980's. The next night I was eating dinner in town and he and a couple of his players were sitting at the next table. My wife kept poking me in the ribs to introduce myself and say what a big fan I was, but my inclination was to leave the guy alone.
I also got to see Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones "stunt" keyboardist for many years) play with his group "Sea Level" (OMG, what a bad pun) at a bar in Champaign,IL, with about 15 people looking on, for FREE.
All of this pales compared to sitting next to Bo Diddley on an airplane ride and talking music for a couple of hours. It was great until the other people around us figured out who he was. It was like a switch went on and he went into what I can best describe as "dealing with 'fans' (especially white)" schitck. It was funny, but you could tell that the whole thing was well rehearsed.

I heard an acoustic piano, bass and drums version of "You are my sunshine." Today on the way to work. KSDS Jazz 88.3
I wouldn't call it funky, but the drummer and bassist was laying down a beat that you could definitely step to, while the pianist filled in the space with pleasant melodies and sounds, lots of major 7ths, etc.
It was wonderful.

Lately I've been fascinated with non-standard time signatures. Dave Brubeck is the most famous example, but the Beatles and Radiohead have done quite a few as well. The Police's Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic goes from 7/8 to 4/4. Any others you guys know of?

I have always liked the opening part to the Supreme's "You Keep Me Hangin' On." Rhythmically it has more to do with Morse Code "hand" than any other music I've ever heard.
