Skinsuit for a Windy Road Race?

Skinsuit for a Windy Road Race?
What are your thoughts... the race is only 40 miles, I'm fairly confident that between two bottles and whatever I can stuff inside the leg grippers, I'll be fine on fuel.
Course is very windy - constant 15ish mph wind, gusting to 30+. Course is a square, so you go headwind, head/cross, tail/cross, tail/cross. It gets pretty well strung out.
Temps are supposed to be below 60, so even an LS skinsuit won't be too hot, I figure...

you've been asking some pretty newbish questions for a guy who's been racing for 3 years.
if that's what you want to wear, a skinsuit will be fine. hell, who needs to eat during a 40 mile long race?

So, I say wear the SS unless it will some how be a detriment to performance.
The only reason I dont wear it is if I know I'll be OTB due to a steep, long climb or I need the extra pocket space.
This said, my plan often includes taking tons of wind. Alway wear the PI aero shoe covers, too.

1. why not? if it's a good idea in a 45 minute crit, it's a good idea in a 1:45 RR.
2. you don't need food for a 40 mile ride. if you're emotionally dependent on gu, stick 'em in your shorts. I'd just use drink mix in a bottle

Wear the skinsuit. If I were doing a 40 mile race I'd take 2 gu's & keep them under the leg elastic.

I can't think of a race other than a super-hot, lots of climbing RR that wouldn't be perfectly reasonable to wear a skinsuit.
other than needing to unzip, while simultaneously going slowly enough to not worry about anti-aero flappy bits... i'd wear one for about everything.

I wore my skinsuit at Lost River because the race was ridiculously short (not saying it was easy!), and it was really hot. My skinsuit is a mesh-like spandex that wicks better than my jersey. I started out with a ton of ice stuffed in the T back of my sports bra. Seemed like an improvement over the last year's jersey/shorts combo. People kept asking me why I was wearing it for a "road race." It was all about temperature control. I can't really say whether it was a smart move on the windy sections of the course. I'm always fast enough through that part anyway because of the easier terrain. I guess my point is, use it if you think it'll help you in some way, but some people will give you funny looks.
Other than that, the skinsuits get used for TTs and crits.

also, has anyone experimented with wearing a skin suit, and then a long sleeve jersey over top of it during cold weather? I guess it could also be worn in that setup for RR too, since you have the pockets in the jersey...
