2010 Chuck Pontius Photographer

Did anyone race Chuck Pontius this weekend and happen to get the name of the guy photographing the event?

I bring my own photographer with me to avoid these situations

Which race were you in?

There were a few. I wish the race flyers would promote the website of whomever the official photogs are.

Since my race was at 7:30am, this time I should be safe from the embarrassment

There are rarely official photographers.

Here are links to three photogs who frequent Socal races (none appear to have any Pontius photos though):

I was racing in the 40+ 3/4 and managed to win it (i.e. scratched and clawed my way to the middle). I didn't recognize the photog there, but he has some really nice equipment and was actually positioning himself for some cool camera angles. How I noticed this in the race, don't ask me.

Any ways, while waiting around to collect prize money, I totally forgot to get his info...

Congrats for winning that race, my teammate got second. I wasn't there to watch it, what team do you ride for?

btw, if you were in the 3s race and you noticed my wife taking pictures you probably would have thought she was the official photographer... cool camera angles and nice equipment.

No, sorry, only got the 3s. We arrived late (if they weren't running late I would have barely made it to the line), and it was hot and my wife doesn't do well in heat so we split as soon as I changed after.

That's ok. You've gotten some great ones of my team mates at SDSR and Callville! The one race I did where I was in some great pics I was wearing my kit from last year (different team):-( Probably cos the ladies races are always so damn early in the morning!

I did get the women at Devil's Punchbowl. I drove up with a junior and had to wait for his race to start and finish.

umd... I ride for Simple Green. I normally would stick around for the 3's race, but I had a family obligation to go to. The photog had some lenses that looked pretty fast... definitely high $$ stuff. I'm surprised nothing has shown up via a google search. It'd be nice to get some shots in our new team kits...

Awesome! I can't wait to see them. My team mate was 3rd in that race.

I saw some really good pics of Pontius on Facebook (cos I got tagged in them) but it looks like he only shot the women's races.

umd... I think I friended you on FB today by the looks of your kit, hometown, etc... did you post some video recently of the 3's race?

Anyways, I'd love to get some picts of the race. Can you PM me the file or post it on the FB Group Cycles Veloce - Team Simple Green page?

https://lasportsphoto.exposuremanager..._men_pro_1-2-3

There's some photos of the 1/2/3 race. I think he is putting them up for the rest of the races? The Womens' photos are all on Facebook. Don't know why two different places?

Anyway you could email and ask him if he got your race. Did you race M3/4 40+? I know that race was after mine so I am sure he got some pics of you winning. I attacked early and sat on the front for nearly a lap, got some nice pics for a change. Very worthy of the"suffering" thread I am soooo short and ride on 650 wheels that usually you can only see the top of my head in race pics. I will look at them and think "where the heck am I? I was on so and so's wheel. Oh, there's the top of my helmet :-/

Thanks for the link... I'll have to email him to check... good job racing aggressively & getting good picts. I know what you mean about getting hidden in photos. Sometimes I'll view a hundred slides only to see myself in the background of one. Maybe that's the downside of keeping your nose out of the wind.

I did race the Mens 40+ 3/4s, but usually race in the 3s...

I'm usually the lowest one in a group, so I'm often hidden too unless I'm on the front. My wife is usually pretty good at spotting me.... she looks for wheels without a head and tracks me until I show through a gap
