The wife and I get back from the beach that Friday/Saturday, but I'll try to make it out there.

I'm going on a cookie ride to get beaten upon by a bunch of Mock Orange guys. Funny thing is, their race team is much nicer than their "charity" riders.

Isn't that typical though?

I'm guessing some of the MOB guys will be in Boone though. I should show up wearing a polka dot jersey.

I know a few who act like hot snot. They'll yell and cuss at you even in practice crits. I just don't get it sometimes.

I'm thinking about going by Watts' shop, picking up "that" jersey and then spend the 3 hours yelling and cursing at everyone around me.

Sounds like a plan. One of our guys wasn't allowed back on the team because of his behavior.

Sub, I'm going to be down in the Charlotte area next week (through the weekend) and am bringing my bike. Any suggestions on group rides/training races/actual races in the area? Or a place I can look things up? According to bikereg and pre-reg.com the best I could find was in Mauldin on Saturday morning.

Orr Rd, Charlotte, Tuesday nights. Crit starts around 6pm. But a lot of guys ride from the YMCA on Morehead at 5:20 to the start. Then back after it's over. It's goooooood training. You can make it hurt as much as you like since all levels of racers come out. Sometimes local pros show up to put a hurting on us.

https://www.weeklyrides.com/
This is a site dedicated to all local rides that are hosted throughout the week. All levels.

Yeah, I happened to be down last year when it was going in and hopped into the 4 race. Fun course, tough corner-hill combo.

We considered again this year, but passed. Good thing too, won a local road race that day.

i'll be there for these... since i have a bachelor party this weekend, my brother's graduation next weekend, and my sister's wedding the following one, the state crits will pretty much be the next racing i get to do. what a waste of a month this may is for me! also, the races happen to fall on my birthday weekend, so i'll be celebrating my mediocrity (racing-wise) along with turning a year older.

sub, i'll see you there if i don't catch up with you before then.

If it is, it sounds like he's marrying his sister.

Ah, an NC racing thread. I'm staying in Greensboro over the summer, with a bike, without a car. I want to do some races (official, training, or anything else), but I'm limited to places that I can reach by bike within a reasonable amount of time, say within a 30 mile radius. Do you guys have any recommendations for races that are within a bike-able distance from Greensboro in June or July?

Lots.

And ljrichar has an awesome new bike rack. (me too.)

Dixie is 18 miles away. Ace is a little farther. Lots of training rides, cookie and group. Where abouts will you be staying in g-boro?
