Drove over my Addict last night.

Moving bikes around the shop and doing some comparison between seat height on the Addict vs. the Fuji (swapping over to the Fizik Aliante on everything, stupid Ritchey clamps won't work with my carbon rail SLR).

Had it leaning against the back of the minivan.

Load Fuji and gear for the Thursday nighter. Commence to back out. Hear odd noise. Stop. Back up a little more. Hear noise again.

Get sinking feeling.

Put van in park. Turn off key. Get out.

Walk to back of van. Nothing to see here.

Look under van.

See handlebars and seat.

Get sinkier feeling.

Note nothing is under wheels.

Pull bike out.

Slight scuff on saddle. Slight scuff on bar tape.

That's it.

Come home from race a few hours later and while making dinner grab hot baking dish, forgetting oven mitt.

Lost: In the vicinity of North Texas:

Thankfully, yes. I dropped the dish into the salad I had made.

Seared lettuce is not as tasty as you might think.

This reminds of me of when I drove my old Lemond into garage while still on the Thule roof rack. Also, don't do this.

LOL

I have that problem solved...I have so much crap in my garage theres no way in hell I could park my car in there.

But I did a great ZIPP fail once

On my way up to Mt Washington hill climb and my 303 flew off the wheel holder and underneath a Freightliner
I park the car on the side of the interstate and im practically starting to cry as I chase my wheel down an embankment
my wife was like JUST LET IT GO .. ITS NOT WORTH DYING OVER!

and i was like NO... MY PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!

i ended up finding it, and i couldnt even re-use the decals.. hub.. skewer... spoke? forget it. But zipp gave me a heck of a deal on a new one!!!

the great part is that the only reason I had my wheel on the roof wheel holder was because I had installed those to give people rides down (since they only allow a certain number of vehicles up)... AND... the race ended up getting canceled.

moral? .. we all run over our expensive bikes eventually... i think.

I had my CG1 on a trunk rack.

Forgot it was there.

Backed it into a basketball pole.

Whenever I put a bicycle on my rack (not a roof rack, but a rear rack and I back my car into the garage), I put my garage remote in the back of the car (the "trunk" area of my hatchback) so I can't reach it. I have to actually go around to the back of the car to get it, and when I get there- "Oh look! My bike! I better take that off!" It has, so far, prevented such a calamity.

Moral? Only get cheap bicycles. That way it doesn't cost as much when you do this sort of thing.

was pressing a wheel bearing out of a housing last week (car, not bike). Big ass press, was taking a lot of force. I had that stop and think a moment, much like you did when you heard the noise. I shrugged my shoulders and kept pumping away at the handle.

bang!

Bearing came out alright. I just happened to leave the circle clip in. Sheared the housing in half.

That little moment of doubt is what's left of your brain trying to scream at you

yes the guy at the LBS where I bought the rack told me this....after i crashed the rack. well, the rack was essentially ripped off the roof. I have yet to put it back on.
