Racing in Florida

I will be visiting some family in the St. Petersburg area August 13-16. I looked at https://www.floridacycling.com/ but didn't see any races that weekend. Is there any other place I should be looking, or does anyone in the area know of a race that weekend, hopefully a crit?

Racing in Florida is pretty dead July/August. There's a crit in Clermont the Thursday before you get here. But there usually is nothing going on in the summer time on the Weekends.

There is a Rosewood series crit in Miami on Aug 15, but that would be a haul for you.

Thanks for the response. Thats kind of the feeling I got when I looked at the calender. I'll probably just stick to a group ride or something, although my family wanted to see me race. Guess they'll have to come out to Iowa

Merlin's right...pretty much in the summer we take a break between Spring and Fall seasons. However, I'm in Tampa, and I can direct you to a couple of Saturday and Sunday group rides that are very fast and competitive, with sprints and attacks. All levels of ability from Cat 5 to Pro 1-2. The Sun ride even has some hills. PM me if you're interested and I can get you some more details...

On Sat morning in St. Petersburg there are multiple rides of speed/distance that leave from one location. Check out St.Pete bike club. If you can make it upto the Clearwater/Indian Rocks Beach area we have a fast ride that is 54 miles or a B ride 20-22 for 44 miles, beach with bridges and some "rolling terain" Sunday 44 mile fast ride along the beach. Check out ridenroll.com for info. There is also a Wed night crit series in Tampa.
