I dont' think so. (Assuming they haven't been crashed or the braking surface hasn't been compromised. ) Seems to me that at 700 miles the hubs are just wearing in.

They always say less than "x" hundred miles. I know my 6 year old kysriums will when I sell them.

damn, looks like i'm the only fool here as when i sold my SL+ to veloboy and Pro+ to climber7 i quoted them the actual number. I track my weekly mileage for drivetrain and tire maintenance purposes, and went by those numbers when i sold them.

12-21 was a DuraAce combo in the 7800 series. I'm using one now that I bought a couple of years ago on a super deal for less than $80. I don't think that it is an option in the 7900 series.

I wish that I had been smart enough to buy 4 or 5 of them. 12-21 is perfect for me.

i've seen some quoted at a few thousand. i think on forum classifieds - here, slowtwitch, whatever - people (most of them) are more inclined to be honest about that stuff than on ebay, CL, etc., where you have very little connection to the buyer. and i don't think the actual mileage makes as much of a difference when the wheels are 6 years old...if someone wants them, they'll buy them. just be honest.

haha. well, i appreciate it. and look - the wheel had 4000 miles and i still bought it. i put >5000 miles on my own wheels in the last year and they're in great shape, so i know the number doesn't necessarily correlate to the condition. i track my mileage for the same reason and plan on giving actual mileage when i sell anything.

Masters racing question:

Assume a 45 year old Cat 3 racing in a M123 race. He finishes 12th overall, but he was the 2d Cat 3 over the line. Does this mean anything for that racer, other than psychic brownie points?

It could mean Cat3->Cat2 upgrade points if the promoter submitted the results to USAC and they sorted the results by category. If they did, verify your 3rd place Cat3 standing, and using the number of finishers, determine your points and add it to your upgrade resume.

Just lay off the psychic brownies. No good can come from them.

Is this a hypothetical question?

Pedal question

Is there really a difference between Shimano 105s and Ultegra pedals (alloy ones)? There is a 100.00 usd MSRP difference, but I can't really see a spec difference.

I have Ultegra on my road bike, but am ordering a cheap-ish track bike (not that serious about the track, just would like to hammer it every week or so since there is one in town). I'd prefer to go with the 105s since they are cheaper, but the last thing I want is something I'll accidentally unclip from.

no difference at all. just make sure you are getting the 5700/5600 as opposed to the 540. the latter has plastic base plate as opposed to alloy ones. alternatively, get a set of used ultegra pedals. they are probably up there with Chris King headsets in terms of being indestructible

FWIW, current 105's are even better than Ultegras of just a few years old.

Yeah, assuming he'd even want to upgrade to Cat 2.

I can't think of any other reason the question would be asked.

What's the best way to remove decals from a carbon rim?

I have access to nearly any organic solvent or tool that I need at work.

BTW I should state that I haven't even attempted to remove them yet and I presume that it would be arduous to simply peel them off.

Which wheels?

I have removed decals from a zet of Zipps without any solvent. Hit it with a hair dryer, peel it off, clean up the goo with Googone or Simple Green.

It the decals are just stickers, you should be able to just use a hair dryer to heat up the glue and then peel them off. I used to do that a lot to change grip paper on my skateboards when I was young.

If they are under a clear coat, which I think the Reynolds might be, it would be much more difficult process.

Militis... sounds like something that you would need antibiotics to cure.

No, haven't ridden one. I hope they are better than the 2010 carbon frames that they had. You could compress/flex the tubes way too easily.
