If I can get through the first 10 or 15 minutes, I can do an hour. If I can do an hour, I can do 90 minutes. But after that, no thank you.

Last winter on a rainy day in January I actually logged a 7 hour trainer session. Watched a kids movie with my kids, watched Breaking Away. Listened to This American Life on NPR and finished with about an hour of classic rock on the radio.

That was not typical, I am more normally a 1 -2 hour trainer guy. 7 hours was because I was beginning serious training for my first 2010 double (1st of 5) that was in March.

i did a 3hr session last year and it was difficult. one hour is not bad.

but since I live in socal and it is 80deg outside in December... i prefer just to ride outside haha.

trainer is saved pretty much exclusively for rain days.

Get some studded tires. I just do my longer rides on the weekends and don't even try to do anything during the week unless it's a gorgeous 20F day...in which case I take a long lunch. Riding outdoors keeps me refreshed.

I accumulate ~1hr and 20min at threshold over a period of 2hrs on my trainer on Tuesdays and again on Thursdays during my current threshold building program. You guys must be riding easy to be able watch videos and read books while on the trainer. I usually end up with spittle and snot all over my chin.

You guys are heroic. I have done two hours in a group setting. I recently got the Kreitler 4.5 inch allow rollers with the blower. So far they are very nice and my measured power produced feels similar to the road unlike other trainers I have used. The fan works great for loading up the rollers for more power.

so I'm a C and the guide line for the races is no more than 80km in length and expect to average 32km/h or get dropped and ride solo

My typical indoor rides are 2 hours, going beyond that is tough unless I'm watching a movie that will really distract me. Doing 2 hours is tough in the beginning of winter, but once I get adapted to riding indoors again, its fine.

What province are you in??

I want to move there

In Ontario the Master 3's (lowest master category) are averaging close to 40km/h in a road race...Hence the reason I'm getting shelled out the back and hence the reason I'm stepping up the training this year, with the aid of a coach...

Roller racing perhaps? MUP racing? Average speed state championships? The choices boggle the mind.

Longest is 2 hours. Is there a physiological difference between one 3 hour ride versus 2 ninety minute rides in one day? I would guess that the benefits of the long ride wouldn't occur if you broke the ride up into two sessions. Hopefully this is wrong because I would much rather ride twice a day as opposed to one long session.

cyclingtorrents.nl. or, start a tv series in which each episode leads into the next. you'll want to keep putting on the next episode. breaking bad is a good one for this, dexter, too.

I start to crack after 90min. I can make it to 2hrs, but it's tough. Doing group computrainer workouts helps some.

I hate the trainer. I generally just try to race myself into shape in the spring. Collegiate races help with that.

I'm in Nova Scotia

we used to have allot of categories but it was pointless having packs for 5 or 6 so it was changed to ability based. Which is based on distance and average speed...average speed is a guideline for people trying to decide a category they can race in with out being popped in 5 minutes

I believe the u23 champs are all form Atlantic Canada at least the RR and Crit and I believe the TT champ for u23 is from NB

two 90 minute trainer efforts at home. so fat with music and sports on the tube. another on tap for tonight. i think its time to bust out the moveis. i imagine that 2 hours is doable, but not fun for me. maybe i need to hit up one of those fancy computrainer class things. later.
