Forza 09-18-11 08:10 AM

Adding to the pile...missed this thread for a while...

Redmond Derby Days Crit...Dual camera angle. Large field / good crowd...had the juice that day, crashed out 2.5 laps from finish..ended up running over a guy who "Superman'd" (He broke his wrist, elbow, concussion, plus superficial stuff). I thought I broke his leg when I ran over it...I did damage his S3 and 808s though...unavoidable part of the game.

Lake Washington Velo Circuit Series - Gig Harbor...Punchy course, went off the front on Laps 1 & 5 (final lap), caught caught behind crash positioning within final 1k for sprint.

Last Race of the season...Lake Washington Velo Circuit Series - Carnation Farm...Flat and fast. I bailed after the second lap. We had a near tragedy when a rider was struck head on by a pickup truck, both parties were doing around 30mph...it happened at my 10:00 and I captured the whole thing on film. (Not in this video for obvious reasons), I wasn't of "racing mind" after thinking I just saw somebody lose their life to can a few spots on a tight course. Stay safe out there!

some clips from the SDBC pre season club race, 3 primes and 2nd overall (outsprinted by a cat 2)

JAX_11 01-30-12 07:49 PM

Okay heres a video from the Spring fling of cycling cat 5 road race crash. watch closely as the guy trys to bunny hope the crash and flips over the bars

HMF 01-30-12 08:29 PM

Superman! Damn that was brutal

JAX_11 01-30-12 08:33 PM

They were in the front of the race. I would expect that in the back but not the front.

carpediemracing 01-31-12 01:18 AM

That guy in front of you did well to stay up when the bike skittered into his wheel.

Brutal is a good word for that landing.

shovelhd 01-31-12 06:25 AM

Cat5's shouldn't be expecting anything.

That was nice work avoiding the flying bike.

Higher Class 01-31-12 06:48 AM

1:03... I flew right between the two guys/bikes on the right. Scary.

TheStott 01-31-12 09:40 AM

The guy that "caused" the superman...I'd be interested to know why he was stopped there? It doesn't look like anything is wrong with him.

And by the way, CDR...I'm diggin' your videos.

Awesome! I've got other bike videos and sidewalk video/stills of the race so we probably have you crossing the line on primes and the finish. It'll be up later this week.

Except brutality.

I think that's true for all cats actually, it's just a bit worse in the 4/5's. Some of my 3's races haven't been too pretty either..

I figure those two guys crashed already, i.e. the cam gets to that point just as they stopped sliding. Most riders curl up if they can, kind of instinctive. It was really brutal though, to crash like that just as the race starts opening up. It's kind of like the Harlem clip I have, where the bonehead leading out the field sprint (4 were off the front) hits the barriers on his own and bounces into the road, taking out the first 10-20 guys of the field.

and thanks :)

sounds awesome, can't wait to see them!

i'll be recording red trolley C's and 4's also, not sure if I'm recording Boulevard yet (I don't expect to do well in that race)

This is old, but I dug it up for an email to someone today, and it's getting my juices flowing for this weekend.

Ahh, memories of getting our asses whipped by Jimmy Page and figuring out that Didier makes me nervous through the turns.

SDBC club race finish.

40+ Prime lap

zigmeister 02-01-12 09:05 AM

Yeah, we wondered why we had to wait so long before starting the Cat 3/4 and the woman/masters group. Rumor was a Cat 5 crash at the finish. The evidence says it was true. Someone looks like they overlapped a wheel, or was moving over while over lapped. The cross wind was about 20-30 degrees from the left and that open field had people moving to the right for protection. Or they just got squirrley and crashed themselves.

I say up in the Cat 3/4 about 300m...it was 2 lanes wide and nowhere to go at that point unless you were in the top 10-15 people. Forget that. Just look for wrecks to avoid and coast it in. 1 point for the FPS isn't worth going to the hospital.

zitter 02-01-12 11:31 AM

nice videos, i like the front and rear

looks like i barely edged in for 2nd in the first one (3rd place is also my teammate haha, forgot to wear the right kit)
