Agree with both of you guys, ultimately the guy in front braked / swerved to join his teammate, not thinking about the guys behind him. Fortunately he's okay.

His foot was out really early. If he hadn't caught his right foot on the frame, he might've stayed on his feet. I'm glad no one else went down because bit.

I don't have a quick unclip reflex. Maybe that comes with experience.

Neither do I. You should see all the times I've "turtled" in cyclocross. I should be able to get out of eggbeaters but I'm on my back before I even know what happened.

Enjoyed the video, the last 30 seconds were pretty sad, especially the big red fonts

There were entirely too many racers on that small a course, to the point some had a distinct advantage over others...dunno if 60 minutes is enough to offset that. Not that it would happen, but maybe small course crits like that would be better served with smaller fields in heats, so instead of one 150 person race, you have 3 races of 50 with the top 50 advancing.

Indeed it was a sad ending. Can't quite tell if the girl on the sideline at the end is frowning at me out of sympathy or disappointment..

As for the course, I liked it. I tell myself I would've been able to do the normal "move the f up" thing if it weren't for the elevation.

The final text should have read "PLEASE INSERT 25 CENTS TO CONTINUE".

Looks like a very tough course to line up at the back of. Good effort and thanks for posting the video. I did notice guys were picking up spots on the downhill pretty consistently but of course that requires having some gas left at the top of the hill.

Thanks.

At least one guy who also lined up in the back survived; then again he won the TT a few days before... so his engine is "a bit" bigger than mine.

I just didn't have gas to move up, I was in survival mode the whole time pretty much.

I've started on the back at San Rafael crit, which is only 4 corners but pretty small and a big field (120+), and was able to move up. It's the damn elevation I tells ya!

this is my experience in technical crits when you have to sprint out of features to make up spots. I can't do it.

then Giuseppe tells me the next day that I need to learn how to corner...

Not the same level of competition (but similar sized field and a lot more spectators!), but Friday night at Tulsa Tough I had a just about identical staging situation, in not-the-back of the corral but way-the-back after we lined up, on a similarly technical course with a bunch of turns. I had to kill myself for 2/3 of the race to get past all the gappy death to midpack, but once I was there it got sooo much easier to move up. If I could do it again I would probably try to absolutely bury myself from the whistle to move up as fast as possible and hope to be able to recover in the top 30-40 wheels for a while.

My teammate Ben had a camera on his bike (I didn't have my camera). Me starting to move up just before the bell, P123 at Keith Berger. I moved up pretty quickly for two turns, getting about into 15th spot or so. I started twinging 4 turns later so by this point the next lap I'd put my hand up and pulled out of the field.

Yep. I then use iMovie to edit it down and add the text, but I *think* that can now be done within Virb itself.
