Rough crash...get well soon.
but front wheel fail ? looks more like failed to make the turn and hit the barriers to me. You can see the advertising move just before he starts to endo.

Late to post but worth it. Exciting end to the crit season for me anyway.
You'll notice I give guys way too much space. I tried to show why in the edit, but I got myself too far back in the group early with sketchy guys but did manage to move up late just in time. You'll see.

what software do you use? garmin virb is super user friendly.. and free. very easy to sync the garmin file with the video and the overlay is super easy too.. like easier than typing commentary.

I have used Virb, but it's actually a huge pain (for me anyway) to get the sync'ing just right. First of all I have to stitch the video together (GoPro records in ~20 minute segments), or else I have to sync each segment which is pain in the ass x 5. Then edit the video back down to ~5 mins, then add commentary.
Without doing the overlay part I just edit it down and add commentary, much faster.
I was using an Garmin 705 then, so I also had to covert the .tcx to .fit which was another pain point. I have a 520 now so hopefully that part would be easier, and maybe the sync'ing would be easier.
Anyway I think commentary is more useful than raw data, although ideally I'd have both.

This was done using iMovie I think.

I've always had the 500. I heard that's the thing to have if you're racing, so can't help you out there. isn't 705 designed for touring? you can upload base maps on there right? I could use some of that, wanna trade?
also that power seems low to me for how fast you guys were going. I don't know if it's becaue you're good at drafting, or if that's just how it is with technical courses, where you can't use all of your power due to all the turns.

Power was low except for when I was pulling the pack around chasing, or trying to bridge to a move (a few times in that race).
But the max sprint was only 800-something, definitely not my usual. (which is only ~1100w at best in a race)
Anyway, it ain't about the numbers, which is why I'm not too worried about the data overlays, it's the bike racing part that matters.

Power was lower than usual for me, but yes I'm good at drafting. My power is lower than most people I race against, so I have to be.

What I don't get is why can't Virb just sync the video & gps based off of timestamps?!
I think video from a Virb camera does that, but it doesn't happen with my GoPro.
I like the data, it's just not worth the trouble so far.

you can do that.. just start the timer on the garmin and start recording at the same time (with auto pause turned off on the garmin), and manually match the time stamps for video clips after the first one before trimming. but you're the software guy you tel me

The virb elite, or whatever the top on is called, is basically another computer and syncs with ant+ power.

Second race at Limerock (July, first one was in May). Got the same place but instead of getting 3rd in the field sprint I basically won the sprint but two guys were off the front, one barely. Not as exciting as some other clips, but for me this was a solid race. I gave up at 4 to go, started pedaling again, then at the bell I was thinking of how to bail out without taking out other riders (like if I cramped or something). @thekillerpenguin is in this one.

Nice video. You commented on the heat; I was there that day in the 40+, which I think was an hour or so after your race, and the heat is just about the only thing I remember about the whole race. My Garmin said 102, somebody else saw 109 on the course.

This is a great video! Thank god you had the hyperlapse app or else you never would have gotten back on. I was dying while you were dangling off the back forever after finally getting in contact. In your shoes I would have drafted the trailing moto for a while to recharge, I did that once after chasing on after a crash, and was even encouraged to do so by the moto, but maybe that was not typical?
Also at 12:29 is that a cone in the middle of the road?
