Ugghhh... I'm so tired my body aches. I don't know why either, I didn't sleep well at all two nights ago, but last night I got 6 hours and awoke feeling rested.

...Maybe the problem is that 6 hours seems like a full night's sleep. That's really not much.

Also, sleep is so wild. There are enormous chunks of our lives devoted to falling into an unconscious state and hallucinating for hours on end with no recollection of the events transpiring over the preceding evening. Yes, that's from XKCD or somewhere (don't remember the source), but it's accurate none the less, and kinda fun to think about.

I'm going to ride the US Pro Cycling Championship Course with a group ahead of the race. Just saw the course. I'm in a whole heap of trouble.

My advice:

Water ... Duck ... Back.

And pee on their bibs instead of in the cups they might be holding.

I have said "Shut up" to more than a few young racers that can't believe that old guys can kick their asses without assistance. The guys they were complaining about that "must be doping" were national and international level badasses when they were young. They should be complaining to their parents for bad genetics instead.

It could also be the downdraft from their parent's helicoptering that's slowing them down.

I have stories being an educator at a decent state university ...

but that isn't the issue with these guys. They truly are dumbfounded that "fossils" can kick their asses.

Had to choose between four job offers this week. Ended up choosing one with a lower salary, but I think I'll be happier with the location and the work I'm doing. Pretty happy with my decision.

He is from Iowa, so I'm assuming that the job is not in North Dakota if it is an upgrade in location.
