Johnson City Omnium Anyone?
Get ready to suffer the Roan Groan. The finish climb is 9 miles this year with the addition to the top from previous years. Good luck to those attending. Should be a nice day for it.

I'm in town this weekend for that race. Roan Groan was brutal this morning. Luckily it was a pretty short race overall, so was pretty well rested for the climb. Got 3rd in the cat4s and surprised myself how fast our group flew up the mountain.
Resting up now for the time trial. Short, but that is going to be a lot of suffering on an already sufferfest day!

Yea that was brutal. There were three teams attacking right out of the neutral zone start and then on and on till a break got away. I was on my own just watching for the right moves. I think like you said it is a short race and so it almost always comes down to the finish climb. But even so, a 57 mile race, 30 mile ride back and then a TT later in the day comes to about 100 miles for the day... I'm cooked.

Man I wish I'd have sat in yesterday totally until the Roan Groan climb as I used too much energy before it and cracked about half way up. TT was painful and that straigthaway into the wind after the hill was way linger than I thought it would be! Don't know how I finished but I did 8:05, so I feel like it'll be pretty decent.

I rode most of the way back alone till I caught one guy who was kind enough to pull me all the way back into that head wind. The ride back otherwise is really not so bad it's almost all down hill and at least you keep spinning after that hard finish climb. But yeah I was looking for a ride back if I could have gotten one.

Wish I'd logged in. I'm here, sitting in the hotel before heading out to the crit. It looks like its gonna be a tough one.

One of my boys won the 50+ omnium. Heard it was a great race with some big guns in the P/1/2 - maybe next year I'll have to attend (that would be a 170 pound race weight goal).

I did a 8:59 in the TT on a road bike. I killed the first half, thinking it was flat and I could use momentum on the second half. Uh, not so much, slight uphill into the headwind and I cracked hard. My fault for not checking out the course in person. And I'm definitely bringing the TT bike next year.
I DNF'd the crit. I can't corner worth a shiz, and that course was a nightmare for me. I got a solid 10 minute interval in, then decided to pack up and get an early start home.
I got enough points to get to Cat 3 from the RR, so successful weekend.

Yeah I didn't bother bringing my TT bike for a 3 mile TT but with that wind it could have helped just a bit. I did just the opposite and climbed poorly and then went real hard on the false flat section. None the less I went as hard as my heart and lungs would let me... just a bad day. I LOVE technical crit courses, just flow like water. Tubulars help
BTW congrats on the 3rd place that's a good ride in a big field too. I got 4th as a 4 in that race years ago and now I just watch as people ride away from me

I did the Harpeth River Ride century instead of driving out to Johnson City for this. Glad I did, too! I think 100 fast training miles was probably better for me. But who knows, maybe I'll take this on next year. If I can get past the 4+ hour drive, anyway. It does sound like a nice race.

Thanks, but I'm way too lazy to leave West Nashville early enough to get there before 6. If you like early, you should try the GSD ride sometime on Saturday mornings.

This one! Currently operating on variation #3, 6:00 AM 12 South Nashville, 7:10 Franklin. It's the ride I can drag my ass out of bed at 5:15 AM for on the weekend. Sunday is for sleeping in.
Can't do it for a few weeks but maybe after the week of the 19th.
