The "I really want to troll the 41" Support group/outlet thread.

I just stopped myself from submitting a new post about my MS150 Team Captain telling me I had to be a domestique, but I felt I should be riding for the win because no one ever passes me on the MUP.

Form Posts:
  1. Fit Questions
    • What aero bars did Lance Armstrong use?
    • Stem is too long, should I move my cleats forward to compensate?
    • There's a great local fitter in my area with great recommendations who's been fitting for 20 years. Instead of goign to see him, I got a fit at a bike shop for $25. Everything hurts, someone help.
    • $200 FOR A FIT? HELL NO!
    • Fit or Powermeter?
    • I just got fit yesterday and rode a double century this morning. My pinky toe hurts, should I ask for a refund?
  2. MUP Questions
    • My MUP has X, Y, or Z surface, do I need a mountain bike or a road bike?
    • MUP has racers on it, they pass to close, what do I do?
    • MUP doesn't have a water fountain, does this mean I need a camelbak?
    • How long is your MUP?
    • What time does the MUP close? Will I get a ticket if I ride when it is closed?
    • My MUP crosses several streets does this mean I can't use clipless pedals?
    • MUP isn't a straight line; Scared of corners, What upgrade should I buy?
    • I won the MUP race with X who was on a Y with other gear Z, that is all.
  3. Average Speed Questions
    • If I go up a hill at 9 mph and down the other side at 40 mph, why isn't my average speed 24.5 mph?
    • What will by my avg speed increase if I get a PM? What about Di-2?
    • How much will my avg speed increase by shaving off the little rubber whiskers on my new tires?
  4. General Fitness Questions
    • My iBike PM says I burned 5000 calories on a 10 mile MUP ride, but I can only fit 3000 Calories of pie in my stomach. Do I need to ride less?
  5. Equipment Questions
    • Do I need to turn in my man-card if I start riding a compact?
    • Does anyone else use carbonated water since it's lighter than regular water?
  6. Powermeter Questions
    • Accuracy: iBike vs Ptap vs SRM vs Quark
    • GARMIN VECTOR IS BEING RELEASED SOON SO I'M GOING TO HOLD OFF ON BUYING A $200 USED POWERTAP
  7. Group Ride Questions
    • Aerobars.
  8. Racing Questions
    • Strava said I did 600W for 30 minutes, can I make the pro-tour?
    • My cat-3 friends say I'm pretty fast, and I can run a 17:30 5k, can I just skip cat-5?
  9. Lance Armstrong is the Greatest
    • Discovery Channel vs US Postal - Best? or Bestest?
    • How fast could Lance do X?
    • Look at my original USPS team bike!
    • Who is Jonathan Vaughters?
  10. Pcad
    • What bike does Pcad ride?
    • How fast does Pcad ride?
    • What does Pcad think of X, Y, or Z?
    • Why does Pcad ride when it's cold out?
    • Is Pcad doping?

am I being trolled right now?

There are an unusual number of threads over there that go along the lines of "I passed this guy with more expensive stuff, how cool am I?"

PS - I'm really excited to post a picture of my new beater race machine once I get it put together. A rattlecanned CAAD7 (brown!) that's had at least 2 other owners.

funny - I was thinking about a "I passed three triathletes on my mtb while commuting home - can I just skip the cat5s?" thread.
anything is good that's good for a mental break while red-lined.

Well, I'm assuming your team captain has a higher average speed than you, so it would make sense that you are the domestique.

Did you Team Captain recently get a new bike or wheels, because that would surely make him faster.

I go there and have often left in frustration BUT am trying lately to make a positive contribution cuz everyone can't be cool like me.

On another note of 41 type riders was at my LBS the other day only to see a McLaren Venge being built up. Some dude loves to ride and wanted one built up with Di2. Seem he has purchased something like 4 S-Works this year alone, just loves to ride...

BTW if I create a sock puppet and be a doosher in the 41 will I get in big trouble?

Fall is just around the corner and winter is next...Things get nutty in there that time of year...

Personally I love the discussions on bike fit....Based on my height and the fact I am not ridiing a 130mm stem I am on the wrong size bike...

I'm hopeful that my recovery rides with the wife provide the basis for some of those threads.

a quick summary of threads suggests that aerobars should be standard in group rides. its good etiquette.

people often have their mind made up and want you to affirm it for them. When you hit them with reality, they start hating you...

like that thread on the IBike powermeter

dude, i thought the thread is an intervention, not instigation

that said, you forgot these:

-Strava said i did 600W for 30 minutes, can i make the pro-tour?
-If I go up a hill at 9mph and down a hill at 40mph, why isn't my average speed 24.5mph?
-Do I need to turn in my man-card if I start riding a compact?
-What will be the increase in my avg mph if I get a PM? What about an upgrade to Di-2?
-My cat-3 friends say I'm pretty fast, and I can run a 17:30 5K, can I just skip cat-5?

The last few times I was over there I noticed a serious trend by one poster in particular. He had several threads with the contexts "what should I do? what should I buy? what should I eat? how far should I go? what should I think? what do you think? am I right? am I wrong? yada yada friggin yada...I get the impression he would be completely lost without the input of the 41.
So I couldnt help but post these-

There was a thread asking who shaves and then a long discussion about it. I may have to start a thread asking who shaves their ballsack to prevent chaffing.
