Tough to choose a bad place to eat. Polvos is a good representation of South Austin. You ought to dig up some live music while you're in town too.

make sure you test this on a small, unobtrusive section of carpet. you might find it discolors (or removes the color altogether), and if that happens you really are screwed. test in an inconspicuous zone. if problems occur, you can then always go for the pro cleaning.

good point.

I think the Goof-off worked pretty well in conjunction with carpet cleaning fluid that i have, and i'm really surprised as how much grease i've gotten on the carpet...

-----

In other news, i'm quite happy to hear that my alma mater is bringing Flandis, Vaughters, and Tygart for a discussion panel. All the more appropriate given that one of our own doped when he turned pro.

And the guy hosting the discussion panel isn't just some chump either. I thought he was just another professor, but Jacob S Hacker apparently won collegiate road nat's while back riding for my alma mater (his alma pater) and is apparently kicking ass and taking names as a masters racer.

I use Spot Shot with an iron shaped brush. Seems magical.

Also car upholstery cleners.

I just bought 6 cans of the Spot Shot yesterday.

Things I've learned about training camps from FB

Camp guys eat like crap.
They ride ridiculously far, long and slow over terrain that doesn't even remotely approximate anything they'll see in the race season.
They like to take a lot of photographs.
In order to take photographs they stop a lot.
When they stop they eat.

I checked out the nearest Polvos...3.4 miles from my hotel. I'll get there at least once. Live music might be tougher. The only option will be on Saturday night. The work will be done then and I leave at 6am on Sunday. Hopefully, I'll be able to partake. Prior to then will be unlikely.

One of my goals in life is to actually visit the places I travel to. Dare to dream.

If that's what you're looking for, then Moab seems a much better option. Well, maybe not this time of year, but at some point.
