Started feeling like crap yesterday and I'm prone to being sick all winter anyway, so of course I went on a 6+ hour club ride today including a 20+ mile climb into a cold headwind. Felt better than I deserved to and so far I'm glad I went.
Two of the women almost got together on a twisty descent at 40mph which scared the crap out of them. They're both very experienced pack riders, one is a cat3 and the other has done endurance racing so the bonehead moves were a surprise. Thankfully they didn't fall.

I think it's cool to hear a girl talk about paying $300 for a SR cassette.

My fiance and I are looking at cutting off the cable. Do y'all have any idea how the 2013 TdF coverage is going to be online this year? I've heard a lot of pad things about how it's been covered in the past. Things like NBC blocking content, promising full coverage, but then providing 30 minute stage recaps, things like that.

I download Eurosport cycling torrents and watch it after the fact, while trying to ignore the spoilers that people like to inject into threads.

nbc/universal is a total ripoff. The Eurosport feeds always present the last 30min or so of the race commercial free. You can actually subscribe to Eurosport coverage via a circuitous manner by getting VPN service and then paying British Eurosport. They usually have a re-broadcast, and I don't feel so bad about downloading data afterwards.

I'm watching old races from Eurosport, and they are so much more enjoyable than the over-hyped, overly dramatic Phil-Paul events.

Of note... might be a good thing this year: http://z6mag.com/technology/intel-to...3-1617350.html

Hm- That is pretty interesting, but my understanding is that the networks et al, are pretty content to force providers into bundling services. I've heard for a while that it's an issue with the various content providers, and not the cable operators, who are bundling things together, but are doing so because the cost of production is so high for shows.

For Tour/race stuff I watch streaming stuff linked off of cyclingfans. Then, if I liked what I saw, I'll grab something off of YouTube. If I really liked it I'll buy the DVD/s. I really don't watch shows per se, kind of find it annoying when people schedule things around a TV show ("Oh, it's about to start" and then for an hour we sit and watch some show).

I haven't had cable for maybe 15 years now, maybe 20, I don't remember. Since '94, something like that. A humorous side effect is that any time we see a TV show (restaurant, friend's house, etc) we're delighted with the "really funny ads" which are, to everyone else, overplayed and old news.

The internet has been my time suck instead. At least I can choose my poison. With TV I'll surf and watch whatever which is why I stopped it. It was tough for me when I went to my SoCal training camp - my hosts have HD everything-channel TV so in the morning I'd be watching some show, then another, then realize "oh crap I need to go train".

Junior is better hydrated than me I think. 300g pee in 4 hours. Normally I don't weigh - I never have - but this diaper was heavy. I wanted to see if it was over a pound but it was "only" 339g. I didn't know a new diaper is 42g. 11 diapers is a pound!

I keep a better log for him than I do for me.

On a related note: dark room, dark rocking chair, sleepy Junior, a few ounces of water in his bottle, go to sit down in the chair to top up Junior. They all work together well. Add a dark sleeping cat on the rocking chair and suddenly it gets exciting when I try and sit down.

Good news is that she's now at my feet purring like crazy and being flirtatious as usual.

After all the knee and back pain issues I've been having, I decided I probably needed to get a new fitting done. So, I went on Saturday. Turns out my fit was pretty far off. We dropped my saddle 1.5 cm and slid it back 1 cm. And he put two pedal spacers on my right pedal, which he says should help with my hip flexor issues. I hope this works.

Anyway, I watched "Killer Joe" while spinning on the trainer yesterday (I didn't want to go too hard after changing my position) and it was a pretty good movie. I think this is the first time I can ever say this, but Matthew McConaghey was really good in it.

We cut off the premium cable and have just had the local stations for 2 years now. I do eurosport online for the tour.

Cancelling my cable right now actually. I'd rather have that money for something else.

Like some other of you folks, caught myself a little sickness. Some sort of nasty stomach bug. Zero energy, temperature, stomach destroyed. Took off both Saturday and Sunday, which caused me to miss the last 9.5hr of my block. Sigh. Oh well, my CTL is already at the peak from last season, so still looking good. After this week's rest week I should be good to go and back on schedule.

.

Haha, this is so true. We finally got an HD antennae a few months ago and now I feel like I can relate to people when it comes to television programming.

We're like TV poseurs. Too much equipment and channels, but I hardly watch anything, so I'm still clueless about most pop-culture. There could come a point where I sit down and watch a show or movie from beginning to end.

I didn't get the job I thought I had a good shot at. Back to the drawing board.

Dammit...

This would be so much less frustrating if it didn't hurt like hell to sit down, stand/walk, or do anything really...

I'm at a point now, where I'll probably settle for something that pays less since I only have enough cash to live here for ~4 months before i'm totally farked.

Oh, and the MRI confirmed what I thought. My back surgery didn't work. So I'll probably be needing another one of those.

Any one of you geezers want to trade bodies? Mine is 23 years young...

Really sucks on the job and back front. I'm sure it's frustrating, but just keep the pressure on.

RTC: if you have the spare time, identify 1-2 broad organizations involved in the industry and begin volunteering for them. Good to make more connections.

I have plenty of connections, that's the issue. I just need to start asking them what's up. Hiring should start picking up now, so that's good. I can ask the girl who replaced me to give me any emails that I don't have.

There are a few people I can ask. I can probably find something part time too, but it's just frustrating because I wake up and don't know if I'll be able to walk right or if it'll be a 'cant get out of bed' kinda day even though the last few days were good.

It'll turn around. I'm emailing my surgeon.
