A couple years ago, a guy around here was busted for doping and subsequently received a ban. I forget his name, but if memory serves, he had won a few masters national championships - I think they were TTs - and he had a pretty steady coaching business.
Anyway, I was talking with a buddy of mine, a long-time cat 1 who mostly races masters, and I asked his opinion of the guy. His response: "That guy owes me money." And my buddy was right. He had come in behind the doper on several occasions, and the difference in payout between first and second or fourth and fifth can sometimes be a lot.

Not that this has any impact on how your friend should feel, just commenting on payouts in general.

The spoils are nice. I'm still wearing a pair of Oakleys I won a few years ago, and enjoying a nice Park track pump. Just part of the sport. The money is great to take the team out for burritos after the race (or divide the payout -- current team generally prefers a celebration).

I'm now at that stage of healing where it's definitely not better, but it's sufficiently improved to make the limitations I still have more frustrating than ever. I think this is the point when weaker men crack and do crazy things, like buying recumbent tricycles, but I am remaining strong.

On the payday of domestic pros I can assure you that they make jack ****....
Almost everything I have on my bike has come from a domestic pro dumping his stuff at the end of the year so he can make ends meet...

That book is a definite buy.

Speaking as a guy who actually did buy and ride a recumbent for a couple years when my back and neck were in really bad shape... it's not the worst thing in the world... still allowed me to ride, pain-free, which helped me lose weight and get back in shape to ride a real bike. Just sayin.

My wife broke her Iphone 4 screen. New screen & digitizer on Ebay $30 and 45 minutes fiddling with tiny screwdrive & good to go. 8 months later, broke it again. Just ordered another from the same seller. However the first place we bought a replacement (Amazon seller), it was a dud and did not work.
I think I destroyed more than just the screen and digitizer. I think those are on the left and the lcd is on the right and cracked through now.
Loving my N4. No regrets. I have the 16GB version, and would have been fine with the 8GB. When I got it, I committed myself to online storage for everything that goes on the phone. I don't listen to stored music on it, so there's really nothing significant to take up space. Getting KitKat before my S4-owning friends was nice...
I do listen to stored music on them, but 6-8 gigs is plenty for me. I don't understand why they're selling for 250 used on ebay when they cost that much new... Craigslist has some for like 200 so I'm hoping to be able to talk them down to 160 or so. Obviously I'll try it in person so it doesn't turn out to be a stolen/bad esn.

It's a weird place in the market for a phone, but there it is.

Shrug, I like the idea of having an expandable memory card, but the prices for used s3's are silly...
I'll probably snag this one for 200 if I can.

In other news my boss just let slip that the 2 new chairs she ordered for her office are because the old chairs were uncomfortable for some of our team members. New chairs are armless, old chairs had arms.
Hmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I am fat sympathetic, but wow.

I used to be 270lbs and still have food issues from those habits. I don't think anyone chooses to be that big more than anyone chooses to fall into alcoholism or drug addiction. The only difference is that it's acceptable to have an intervention for someone with tracks up their arms, but not for someone who's eating themselves to death.

fair weather cyclist
This is up there with my weirdest garbage finds. I live in a small condo complex, maybe 18 other full timers.... I am the only one I know who rides on the road. Today I found a barely used set of Kreitler Challenger 4.5" rollers sitting there in the dumpster when i was taking out the trash.... whose on earth are these, and why would you throw away a $350 set of rollers!!!!! Mine now!

This is a good point and an honest self evaluation would tell me that I really have no right to not be sympathetic. We all have subconscious viewpoints that we may or may not realize. I am not really saying its right but my heart certainly doesn't go out to them like it does with other issues:/

Not that big, but big enough for my frame. I smartened up in time, but it did take a major life change to get me on the correct path.

Making a kilometer blurry
I can get an S4 through my work plan now (been on BlackBerry only previously). I might make that move, but in my heart I know that I'll be having to give up my N4, and I'd honestly rather keep it... just not to the tune of paying for an entire phone plan. Tough call... as I'm not sure if they'll let me migrate my mobile# anyway.
