Good stuff!!

How do you get better at going fast and loose? I know if you descend over and over and over and over again, you get more confident. Same for cornering?

I bet if you ask most super fast guys, they can't explain it. I bet if you ask the guys who suck they can tell you all sorts of BS about oversteer or tire pressure or weight shift, or whatever.

gsteinb 05-02-14 04:24 PM

yeah, NYC racing is harder than guys give credit for.

waiting to see if tomorrow's race is canceled, or if they find a way to move the water. I hear Moses is living in Red Hook.

Getting ready to punt on weekend race plans. Plan C.

nothing a wee bit of sweeping can't get rid of.

Thanks all. It sounds like a 2-3 month timeline, but I'm in no hurry. The best part was when I told them of a fairly complicated idea I have to improve coach/athlete communication, there was silence on the line, and then the Ph.D. said, "Yeah, you are exactly on the right track." Strange (but encouraging) interview -- no real interview questions at all, just a discussion.

Good stuff.

p12 crits around here are like 4 or 5pm. I prefer my 8am c3 races.

San Rafael Twilight Crit is like 8pm!

P-R-O

Ygduf 05-02-14 05:56 PM

have fun! If I did that race I wouldn't be home until like 11pm!!!

gsteinb 05-02-14 05:57 PM

Funny. That's the main reason I don't race more track. 2 hour drive and they don't finish until like 10:30.

shovelhd 05-02-14 06:01 PM

Twilight criteriums are my favorite races. Fitchburg has two of them this year. I am also seriously considering going down to PA to do Iron Hill. That's my kind of course.

TMonk 05-02-14 10:53 PM

Getting psyched for my favorite race tmrrw, barrio logan GP cat3. The course suites me well - technical and punchy up and down a ~4-5% grade.

I placed 4th two years ago, 3rd last year. Family + gf will be there and I plan on doing better this year.

TMonk 05-02-14 10:57 PM

In other news, a neighbor of mine, whom I have never interacted with outside of passing smiles and waves, just dropped off a bunch of free bike **** at my apt.

Apparently he's getting deployed for some military intelligence mission, and needs to get rid of some crap. He gave me a complete Alex Rims ALX270 wheelset, with barely used cassette, a free floor pump, and a bunch of tires and tubes. I was like wtf...

Totally awesome. I guess it's time to pay it fwd.

rbart4506 05-03-14 05:31 AM

I try to do that periodically...

Some people really have trouble wrapping their heads around the concept....

shovelhd 05-03-14 05:42 AM

Funny. I'm going to the post office shortly to mail off a set of GSC-10 magnets to some guy in the Bronx who I'll never meet. What goes around comes around.

globecanvas 05-03-14 09:58 AM

Why didn't you guys tell me Mother's Day was next weekend before I registered for races both days?! This is not gonna be pretty.

Lol!

jsutkeepspining 05-03-14 02:11 PM

Mother's day and my birthday always right next to each other. I started telling my mom that if we can have a truce and just not buy each other things until after finals i'd be happy (finals at my school are always the 2nd week of may).

gsteinb 05-03-14 02:16 PM

My kid was born on mother's day

jsutkeepspining 05-03-14 02:36 PM

The best kind of present...

gsteinb 05-03-14 02:43 PM

he's kind of a prick these days, so let's withhold judgment.

I wish my daughter was feeling well enough to misbehave.
