I crashed the cross bike, of all things, descending a steep dirt run-up. So I do have a few scrapes and bruises in addition to the break, but nothing serious. I really hope they can get me into surgery that quickly, the exterior line of my shoulder is visibly screwed up, and it's incredibly uncomfortable. I can feel things grating around in there if I move a little too incautiously. The way my body looks has me freaked out, for sure. I assume and hope the surgery will fix that and I'll be okay.
Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone. And I'll try not to get too fat, but you all can be the first to know if I do.

(Seriously though that sucks, sorry man)

Anyway, thanks for the sympathy, everyone. Sounds like GC's BIL can use it more than me. I don't have an ortho appointment until Wednesday, but once the ball is rolling on that, I'll be fine and I'm covered for my medical bills. I guess some discomfort for a few days isn't a big deal. GC, best wishes to your BIL and family.

He's old enough to have started forgetting some of that stuff, I think.

It's taken us a while, but now a man can marry his powermeter in Tx and enjoy the same fitness benefits as men in Massachusetts and Washington. It's a beautiful thing.

John Sebastion did the theme song.
It exactly mirrored my high school, except for all of it. Our show would have been called "**** you you ******* ****" and this would have been our theme song:
I was sitting in my room and my mom and my dad came in and they pulled up a chair and they sat down, they go:
Mike, we need to talk to you
And I go:
Okay what's the matter
They go:
Me and your mom have been noticing lately that you've been having a lot of problems,
You've been going off for no reason and we're afraid you're gonna hurt somebody,
We're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself.
So we decided that it would be in your interest if we put you somewhere
Where you could get the help that you need.

...speaking of ignorance of history... we debate old sitcoms with the younger generation. To the kids perception, we are just doddering old fools nattering on about some cloud. Some of us can vaguely remember that feeling anyway.

I change the chain when the guy at the shop tells me to. I try to avoid riding in the rain, because I'm an American and we can afford cars here. At least for now.

The truly does suck and feel for anyone in that situation. Being in Canada we just can't related to the financial burden that unexpected surgery puts on a person and their family. Not only are you worried about their health and well being now and in the future, but then you worry how they are going to financially survive once they are healthy...
Just sayin'.
