My wife and I have to pay big in taxes every year. I try to budget it during the year - I put money into savings every month to cover property taxes, homeowners insurance and federal taxes.

A few years ago, I was getting state refunds that nearly matched what I owed the feds. Not anymore.

And this year, I will be filing an amended return with the state. Since I always get a refund from the state, I file that first, while holding on to my federal return so I can use my refund to pay part of my federal bill. Two days after I mailed my state return, I got one more tax form that I thought had already arrived. So, the state is refunding me too much, and I'll have to send some back in an amended return.

As for cars, new Ferraris and some new Porsches (911 GT3) like to catch on fire, so fire extinguishers are important there.

And I once saw an accident where a car flipped off a highway on ramp and was upside down with the front end on the ground and the back end leaning up against the side of the on ramp. Four people in the car. The three wearing seatbelts walked away. The fourth, without a seatbelt, sustained substantial injuries.

Yeah, if I was driving a Ferrari you better believe I'd have a fire extinguisher. Those things have been going up like match sticks lately. New Mazdaspeed3? Meh, not so much. The only time they catch on fire is when someone puts a rod through the block by having a bad tune on the car and the oil goes up on the hot turbo and exhaust.

I remember that. None of the police could stop the guy, and they didn't know if he had ordinance in there to fire. The only reason he got stuck on the barrier is because he approached parallel to the barrier, rather than perpendicular to it.

EDIT: I forgot, in addition to his driving over the barrier wrong, he forgot to lock the hatch. That's how they scrambled in on him when he was stuck.

Lucky you. I paid an extra $2500, due to underestimating the effect of us making double 2012 income.

I've started applying for new jobs.

My current position is just not challenging me. I am tired of waiting on you guys, and the rest of the Internet really, to post stuff to keep me entertained everyday. I've reached the point in my current position where I am basically repeating each year. And at this point, I'm so adept at it that things that once took me a couple of days are now only taking a couple of hours.

I've offered to take on new projects or lead various projects, but I am continually told no, because I am not classified as a "researcher," and as such, I am not allowed to do more than what I do, which basically makes this a dead-end job.

I was unemployed for more than 50% of the year. So with the amount I've saved in the 9 months, I'm back to the point to where I was a couple of months in money wise.

Why don't you come here and be my assistant? I'll challenge you and your sanity.
I will pay you in a healthy dose of sarcasm and insults

So after a crazy few months I now got a job at Vistaprint paying actual money and using my degree to an extent, have an apartment (I can finally leave home) and of course in the whole process ended up gaining poundage....well at least it will be easier when I have my own place. Just can't decide if I want to race yet this year....

Hello again inane online world, I have missed your company.

First time trial of the season for me tonight, and the forecast is pain.

Winds 21mph out of the WSW. Add in that I'm in marginal shape, and haven't ridden my TT bike in close to a year, should be lots of fun.

Only wheels I brought with me are a rear disc, and front trispoke. Perhaps not the best choice for conditions.

The TUE process is a pain in the ass. I'm just not going to take my medications and risk being sick, better than being popped as a doper.

On the flipside, had I been thinking a bit more clearly in the doc's office I suppose I could've asked for a USADA compliant treatment.

If you're concerned, you can use the WADA app on your iphone there with the doc to verify that his/her prescribed treatment is compliant.

I know. Right? I stay away for a while. Have a great time getting caught up. Now that I'm caught up I'm just not being entertained enough. Maybe I should venture outside this thead...

Oh and good luck!

I don't get it either. Clearly satire, but I don't know that publication well enough to understand why, it's not like it's hilarious or super insightful or anything, and it's not April 1st yet.
