It's a pretty funny cartoon on Fox. In last night's episode, Bob goes to a burger convention, for a "meating of the minds," where he gets to meet all his friends from the Burger Forums includeing Beefer Sutherland. It does not go well. They do not like each other in real life.

I kind of wonder what it would be like if we had a 33 convention.
Well Aki is awesome so don't worry about that. Gary refused to take me under his wing like 4 years ago and I'm still bitter. Grolby's a cool dude.

I think we'd be fine.

Pshh. I'm all right, I guess. We can always have our own convention. I'll buy you a coffee or something. You can tell me what shoes I can wear with my 511s.

This weekend,I witnessed a guy run over his carbon wheel after he thought he had everything in his truck. Worst sound when he ran over that...man. He got out and tried to play it cool.

Sucks. No sense making a scene though.

Yea, might have worded it wrong. He didn't make a scene. He just put it in his truck and got back in. We all felt AWFUL for the guy.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Ideally, I'd probably just utter a few words, put in the vehicle and drive off. When I was younger, some other stuff would probably have been in need of repair too.

I rolled over my race wheel once. Actually my teammate/roommate was driving, he technically rolled over it. I'd left it next to the bumper. What could I do? I swore while I was in the car, got out, picked it up, put it in the car. Drove home. Totally sucked. I was in PA, 4 or 5 hours from home, I had brought only my race wheels (the spares were in my driveway, forgot them), and flatted two laps into the race. Teammate was there to lead me out and he was sort of lost once I stopped. An all round bad day.

For you scientists: I know I am spoiled rotten as I can have coffee and water in the labs. Sucks for days like today when we have auditors coming through and I can't get my coffee fix in the lab.

Sucks for the audit process that there is no way to get an actual picture of how a given lab works.

we deal with ferpa and sensitive info all the time, so routinely have internal audits conducted by our own people to ensure compliance and ****.

Anyway, we always get advance notice, and my supervisor goes around to all the desks and does an audit before the internal audit before any actual federal audit (which would be a surprise)...

I am the only one who seems to see the futility of this.

Yea, that is pretty much how it goes.(unless its FDA)
@waterrockets technically we aren't out of compliance...yet for having beverages in our lab but we choose not to for audits.

Back when I was in grad school, I knew all the safety inspectors. I'd usually see them in the hall and make a run back to my lab to make sure everyone was on their game. If I didn't see them until they got into the lab (I was always the closest bench to the door), I'd usually strike up a conversation to stall them until everyone go their ducks in a row. Sure, it's not the best way to do things, but my ability to get my degree and get out was dependent on my lab retaining its ability to work with the substances we worked with (and as the youngest and least experienced for most of my time didn't want to try telling people what to do). Oddly, I was the most cognizant of the rules and least likely to do things like mouth pipette or eat in the lab, but was also the one to have the most accidents.

There's apparently an active shooter in Big-D. Victory Park area. Hope everyone is safe and well.

EDIT: Apparently someone was being evicted and didn't want to go. He's barricaded himself in at The Vista Apartments, 2300 West Houston.

Regarding the crushed wheel - yup saw the same thing a few years back as well. Crunch. Except the driver was not the wheel's owner - the guy parked next to him had left it laying out behind the car and wandered off. I had to go race, never saw the rest of the story.

Just reminds me in general, how I _always_ get so spacey / dis-combobulated after a race. I've learned, somewhat, to slow down, do a proper cool-down, take my time getting re-packed before I drive off and forget spare wheels or whatever. Couple the low blood sugar / endorphins with the random chaotic social atmosphere of a race, can be dangerous to expensive gear.

Ha. There will finally be a company making jeans for waterrockets.

About:
Awesome quads deserve awesome jeans! KCJ are designed with the athlete in mind. Our fit has extra room in the quads and butt, but with a slender waist.

This seems like advice that I should heed in the upcoming year.

After a race I try to remember to do a circumference check before driving away.
Really more of a "sphere check" to include the roof and anything that might have rolled underneath.

Cool. I know many here poo poo the idea that different fits are needed, but they are. I really don't have that big of quads, but the britches are either too tight in the leg, or they fall down without unbuttoning. Lucky Brand has been working great for me though.

My quads are larger than normal but my calves are ginormous so it's super hard to find pants that fit.

I've been pretty successful with Gap jeans. I normally don't wear jeans because I can't get them to fit...

Either the waist is ginormous or the quads/calves area is too tight.

Dress pants are a pain too
