Shoes are something I don't normally go cheap on. A good pair of shoes will last a long time and don't make my feet hurt.

That said, running shoes are perfectly acceptable for nearly any occasion that does not require professional or business casual attire.

I just bought another pair of TOMS. This time navy blue. Love these. I got them when they first came out before the hipsters were all into them.

I don't run but I have a pair of those Nike 5.0 air shoes that's all the fad in the running circles.

I have the New Balance equivalent. These are retro though, I don't think they count as 'running shoes'.

It's funny, i wore really nice clothing for the first day, the day with no picture. On the second day i was running late, lazy, and had a bit of a jog to get there. I decided to wear some crappy shoes, and now i'm giving the fashionistas (Sp?) a heart attack.

I've bought two pairs of running shoes lately trying to fix my stupid legs while running. My legs around my ankles, sorta shins, sorta calves, like get really really sore like lactic acid build up, every time I'm about 5 minutes into a run. It really sucks. I think it may just be because those muscles aren't used in cycling much. Really sucks cause I'd like to run more! I'm getting there though.

I'd like to buy a couple new pairs of shoes for work. Solid like $300-$500 leather soled shoes I can wear for the next 30 years. Still looking around though.

Lately, I've been wearing boots more than anything else. I have a couple of pairs of Frye boots that I wear to work most days. Now that the summer is coming, I'll probably switch to loafers. But I'm fortunate that I work in an office where I can wear jeans or even shorts if I wanted.

Also, Nordstrom Rack is a great place to check for shoes. It usually has a nice selection of Cole Haan and Allen Edmunds shoes in fairly traditional styles. I've even found nicer things, like Bruno Magli and Ferragamo, though those never fit my feet well.

Same races as last year. Only 24 entries last year in the masters field.

If the field fills up this year then come yell at me for getting beat up on by relative youths or the open 1/2s.

I'd love to offer more master's fields though. Do you think a BAR master's field would increase turnout?

Honestly, probably not. I can remember doing this race in 2003 - 2006 timeframe when it was the district championship crit (I might have some dates wrong, but around that year range) and if I recall correctly, the fields were always pretty light. Hagerstown has the same challenges with field size, it's predominantly a distance thing. For me, 43 laps is a helluvalotta laps to start doing at 3:15 on a Sunday afternoon, especially if I only end up doing 29

Nope, can't afford to be fancy when i have a bike addiction and trying to save for a down payment. My brown AE balmorals were $125 from the AE shoe bank. The other pair (black Park Ave) were for $200, but i don't wear that pair too often.

those are not the running shoes which i had in mind. I don't wear retro sneaks that often these days, but they are ways better than the high tech running whose designs would be too loud for even Luca Scinto's Yellow Fluo team

ToWC SR has a 45+ field now (not just for the Road Race, but for the GC): https://www.bikereg.com/2014-tour-of...nty-stage-race

ps: anyone else prefer loafer-style shoes to laces... I've found I really don't like wearing shoes with laces for casual wear.

I'm pretty straightforward on the footwear. I have a few pairs of Cole Haan sneakers that I wear with pants and jeans, and some NB trail runners that I wear with shorts. The running shoes get all the action duty for kids soccer practice, pick-up hoops with the kids, bounding around the block with the dog, and most of my cooking and woodworking.

This reminds me: I can't possibly be the only one who tries to rip my dog's legs off in a run. We do a 6-7 minute loop, and I run it all-out and can usually cook him about 4 minutes in (fairly trim redbone coonhound). Of course, that just means there's no longer any tension on the leash, and he keeps up fine :-/

started looking at getting signed up with T-mobile but apparently they only do that early terminational reimbursement if you get a new phone with them! Fail!

I guess they're just trying to nab people who are wrapping up a contract hen. I really lucked out with T-Mobile. They had a promotional plan with unlimited data and text with 100 minutes of talk... $30 no contract. Bought Nexus 4 from Google for $300, so saving about $600/year over Verizon.

So much for racing or training this weekend.
