Oh, okay, I guess we will. Hey, maybe it's an internet thing. You come flying in with an HTFU, and yeah, that pissed me off. Here's the thing, if you mean all these other things you said:
Maybe you should try saying them FIRST. Because if that's what you want to get across, what you originally wrote sure didn't do the job.
But now I guess we're going to hear that this is all my fault because I'm projecting. I think I'm supposed to do the cool thing on the Internet and pretend that nothing ever bothers me and I always come into every thread ready to read backwards and forwards and make sure I carefully parse every single sentence for the proper meaning and be sure not to ever inflect with anything I'm bringing in with me. But what can I say? Sometimes I have feels.
EDIT: Seriously, just forget it. I've been sensitive lately. I'm really not interested in picking that apart in public. Don't take that to mean I don't mean what I said - but it's too damn easy to get a rise out of me right now.

And hey whatever. We can drop it.

Here's the thing; instead of being the argue on the internet guy maybe when someone says to you you're taking what they said wrong, you're actually taking what they said wrong. So you think I take cycling too serious and I think you take the internet to serious. This isn't my job. I think a it's a bit misguided to think we all have some agenda to dump on one other, or that I somehow care how serious someone else takes the sport. If htfu sets you off sorry but gees it's just part of the fabric of the board.
And hey whatever. We can drop it.

<puke>
Quoting someone's post and throwing out terms like HTFU, even when referring to yourself, implies that the other is not. That's not projecting.
No hugs for me on Sunday, I guess. 8)

Haha. The ice has probably melted but how are the road craters? I hear it's pretty bad this year on both the pavement and the dirt.

The roads by my place upstate are dirt. They are typically worse than the battenkill area, but they're nearly undriveable. There have been a lot of FB posts from folks who have preridden the course saying it's going to be the most epic race of all time.

Hmm, I thought gsteinb was railing against battenkill as a novelty race last year. Maybe I am thinking of somebody else. If so, please disregard. I'm not really young enough to remember things like who said what, any more.
Anyway, I rode the course last week, and there was a fair bit of ice (enough that one of our guys hit the deck), but I'd be pretty confident it's gone by now. The road conditions were typical, some roads worse than usual, like Meetinghouse where they had just poured a bunch of new gravel, and some roads better than usual, like the Stage Road climb which was in great shape, firm and just a little tacky.
The course this year is significantly climbier than the past 3-4 years and finishing times will be 10-15 minutes slower. In fact my ride last week was an all-time high TSS ride for me; NP was the same as last year's race, but the course took 20 minutes longer.
Forecast for Saturday is cold and rainy. Sunday looks nice though.

I think that's botto.
I've never done it. Registered once, and my wife made me bail (on the heels of the previously argued about crash). Can't see myself ever doing it at this point, but RRs in general don't hold much interest for me at this stage of the game.

Shiz got real in this thread today.
As for Battenkill, wish the hillier version was last year. But I really can't imagine it as my legs were 150% done. Last year's race was the hardest race I've ever done, and I'm about 80% confident it's the reason I burned out because it hurt so bad and trained so hard for it (had about 2 months off after because of tiredness/injury then never really got back into things before taking my break). I also wasn't a huge fan of the "luck" factor involved in the race. I hit so many potholes and slid but saved it in so many corners, I can't imagine if I did it another year I would stay upright with a fully working bike (well even last year I had to spend about $300 rejuvenating my bike from wear).

shovel was in a break at somerville 2 years ago with a guy who had previously gotten air lifted out of battenkill. He also had gotten air lifted out of one of those CT RRs (the father's day one?). Two helicopter rides and I'd be done
