Something tells me, they would appreciate getting it fresh.

Do you have a huge buildup ? I usually just add more glue. If it's dry & crusty I will scrape off the obvious loose stuff, otherwise leave it alone.

The nature of this thread makes taking things out of context a lot of fun.

No, what happened was the tire came off, but the base tape didn't. I had to resort to using a solvent to get the base tape off the rim. And once I started, I had to keep going until the glue was completely removed - I wasn't comfortable with the idea of applying glue on top of a glue/solvent mix.

It took many hours of applying solvent, scrubbing with a scotch pad, applying more solvent, scrubbing with the scotch pad... I worked between spoke holes, giving the solvent time to work while I scrubbed my way around the rim.

At least the rim is now nice and clean looking.

d'oh, wish i replied before you went through all that trouble. The best thing to use is actually a butter knife dipped in goof off. Work from the edge of the rim, and the gunk comes off, well, like hot knife through butter. I'm going through something similar right now as the valve on my tubular is fubared

Also, re: applying glue on top of a glue/solvent mix, of what do you think tubular glue is comprise? Hint: find a tube of mastik and read the labels.

I'm having trouble using the interwebs today, maybe someone here will know. Can I run any clincher tire (with a tube, obviously) on a tubeless rim? Stan's Alpha something or other is the rim.

Yes, you can run any clincher tire with a tube on a tubless rim.

My boss pranked me today .... As I walked by, he called me into his office, very serious face on. ...
"Have a seat ... close the door" .... I thought he figured out I surf porn all day ......
Then he hands me a $500 gift card for all the extra effort I put in ..... Whew ! ....... back to surfing

I asked him if they track how I spend it, because I was thinking of blowing it on a crack-ho .... He said "no problem, go for it"

I had the plate put in last Thursday to repair my broken collarbone (doing great, thanks!). Friday the nurse calls to make sure I'm doing okay, and at the end of the conversation asks if there's anything she could do for me. I asked her to connect me with the nutritionist at the hospital and she did, but I ended up leaving voicemail for her. The nutritionist called me back today, and I asked her what foods I should eat to support bone rebuilding.

"Gosh...nobody's ever asked me that before." To her credit, she collected herself and recommended extra protein to support repair to the surgery site, and extra dairy to supply calcium for the bones, plus the usual boilerplate about restricting fried/junk foods. I had pretty much figured that out by myself, and was hoping there was additional info she could give me.

I'm just amazed that she had never been asked that (or a similar) question before.

eat a healthy diet. there's no secret. same thing you eat to recover from training will help you recover from an injury like that.

Sure, I lived there for a while. There are plenty of apartments available, but there is also plenty of renters. There is a state college in town, and it is very close to Boston, so lots of commuters.

anyone smart out there who can tell me what cadence would be implied by 15mph [5.2 w/kg if it matters] on an 8% grade with 39x28 gearing? what about 5.3w/kg?

thanks!
