Sad news. Scary stuff. LA visited him in the ICU, which is generous of him.
The risk/reward for this sport seems really out of kilter sometimes.

2 experienced guys in our club crashed badly on a potholed downhill training ride a few weeks ago.

Cringe...I really hate hearing about stuff like this. Hope it turns out ok for him.

Huh, for some reason I thought I remembered you saying you didn't bother with RRs anymore, but I must have misremembered. The promoter is the guy who took down CDR a few years ago, right?

I haven't done many in the last few years, but it's not that I can't do them or am adverse to them. It's just that there are a lot of holes in the calendar for me where there are only RRs.

Looks like I'll be racing the crit tomorrow. Seems odd that the course is just one road going up and down, but we will see how it goes.

My wife likely will drag me out on Saturday evening to watch the pro crits. If you guys head to Foothills, let me know, and I'll try to meet you. I owe Wanders a beer.

I am not sure why they would say his max 5s is that as he doesn't have power on his bike. That being said though I have never followed a powerlifting program and have never worn a suit (that is where they refer to 1 ply) his powerlifting numbers are not that far out of line.
At a bodyweight of about the same as his I have pulled a 605 deadlift 5 times.
Recently I squatted a 715 to 20" 5 times
I do not do bench press due to shoulder issues but have narrow gripped 385 5 times.
I hack squatted 8 45 pound plates per side 8 times a month ago. His numbers seem about right from that perspective though the cycling side seems a little outlandish as I would not hesitate to have a head to head sprint with him.

Oh yeah, I lift clean.
If I were all jacked up again I would demolish any of my current lifts or power output...
Gotcha. I've seen some super strong guys at the gym but the numbers seemed wild for the weight. At least you can confirm them to be in the ballpark and reasonable. Thanks for the heads up.

Had a little mishap on the bike leaving the house today. Make this move every ride out. Today had some brand new Michelin Pro4 Service Course tires on and they were a tad slippery. I hit the curb edge and the rest is history...

This really disturbed me yesterday when I heard about it. Psychopathic behavior, just like the selfie **** from Australia. I still don't get what happened to the friend who called 911, and why he was no longer with Aguelles.
