Yeah, I think you need to test. 650Kj in an 70' and only 27 tss seems off.

wait you think ftp is too high? i dont think so, but that's just from past intervals/races. I posted up some race data to the trainign w/ a powermeter thread

edit: here's the ride. strava's numbers are a bit different from gc's, but not too much off (np versus weightaverage was 168 vs. 163. total ride time was hour and 10 minutes and xx seconds verus 1 h 9 m xx seconds.) LTHR is 186

whoops i meant to say too high. i dont think so. numbers are around where they should be, except for one major bump but i think it's jsut an np buster. 410 or what ever it was for the np was just silly and more affected by having to do a max sprint every two seconds.

Boy do I love hitting the numbers.

ZCI's today:

273w
275w
282w
282w
281w
281w

So much perfect. I pegged FTP at 267w from a 30' test, so the first one was a little low, and I knew by the 3rd one that I had to start upping the wattage, as they felt too easy. First time back at these in a while, so next week I'll start at 280w and see what happens.

I'm not an expert per se... but your FTP is most likely set too low.

I did 1:30 super super easy today. Getting fresh for tomorrow's weekday crit. Goal is to blow up the 3/4 race. I'm tired of watching these come down to a sprint. I'm gonna fix that.

I think IF is based on NP so there were a few moments where I stopped pedaling with some high burst stuff...I should probably raise it but I don't know If I can truthfully ride at 310W for an hour...my last 20min test was 300W

My 60min spins are 450kj and 20 TSS. With his extra weight and higher FTP, that doesn't surprise me much. Seems legit.

Oh, F me. Long-term present but benign saddle sore rose to the surface, so of course I popped it (yeah, I know TMI, sorry). First time this has ever happened to me. Have it a good swab with hydrogen peroxide, slapped some neosporin and a bandaid on it. PLEASE don't get infected, please please please. Sigh. Really should ride tomorrow. Gonna have to keep an eye on ass status now. Gah.

If it was able to be popped it was technically infected already. Try to keep it dry at night, I wouldn't use the neosporin while sleeping. Try and get some air down below. Use the neosporin during the day when you're probably warm and moist anyway.

And yeah, I am aware of all the softballs in there.

Peroxide is a poor choice; it disinfects well but also oxidizes the wound surfaces which slows healing. IMO: soap and water, air exposure, topical antibiotic.

4x5' at TT effort..not exactly sure what that means so I just went as hard as I could for the 5 min. Without power I think I'm training wrong, I always just do max efforts because I have no way to measure and don't want to make it too easy, this could be backfiring on me. It has been feeling nice though lately as I've been getting out more than my training calls for at actually completing all of it without making stupid excuses, looks like it's snowing tomorrow though. Yay Canada!

track racing tonight was kewl. first night in the "B's"

Win - N - Out:
Format was 8 -laps followed immediately by a Win - N - Out. Some bigger sprinter dudes with better positioning started mobilizing in front of me for lap 1 (lap 9) and I knew it would be a crapshoot trying to beat them so I just used it as a ride to/off the front. I had no problem taking lap 10 for 2nd place.

30 lap points:
Tonight the points went 4 deep every 5 laps. I think its something like 5,3,2,1 points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th across the line each lap, respectively. I scored 22 points and took the win, spending much of it off the front with another rider trading 1st/2nd across a couple points laps.

I would post this in the race results thread but i consider it training

Did you go balls out and then hang on for dear life?? If so, try going easier at the start and then build to the end...

Wish I'd known that about hydrogen peroxide before. I seem to have survived the night, hopefully all will be well.
