Well I have added about 3 hours to my training weeks over the last month or so. Excited but noticing some stiffness/soreness here and there. May need to bust out the foam roller a bit more frequently

2x20s at lunch. Going for some "push" threshold work this block, so wasn't overly painful at 95% FTP. The way things have been going this week, I'm glad I had the fortitude to stick it out today, but ashamed that it was in question :-/

That was Sunday morning for me. I _really_ wanted to quit. In those situations I end up with a lot of internal dialog. There's a lot of, "Come on you F-ing P----, hit those numbers. Don't think about this ----, just hit the numbers. Pedal harder!" I don't know if it really does me any good, but I got the workout done.

The sad part is you'd be soft-pedaling beside me, not even breaking a sweat.

12 hours after last night's hammerfest, 4.5 hours of Z2. 80F and drank all my water with an hour to go. I didn't quite bonk but I could definitely see the bonk from where I was. The last half hour I was having trouble staying in Z2.

TSB is -55. Feeling well and truly cooked.

I accomplished my first interval session. It snowed last night so I was stuck on the trainer. 30 seconds at 26mph and 30 seconds at 13 mph repeated 10 times. I collapsed on the floor and just laid there. After I regained consciousness I did a 5 mile cool down and stopped only because I am unsure if cycling for an hour or two after an interval will negatively effect the outcome of those 10 minutes of torture?

2hrs tonight with 5x1x1's, first time doing those...

Took the first set to figure out pacing and how hard to go. Second set was much better with higher numbers!

Practice with the team, struggled to keep up almost every time, only excuse or one time is that I was otf for 5-10 minutes, I'm glad I was able to do what I did tonight with my sore legs but I'm starting to notice a pattern that in training rides I do great, but as soon as race day comes everything has gone downhill. If my performance was on a graph it'd look like U's and n's: the U's being race time, the n's being training in the days/weeks in-between races. Just needing somewhere to vent/think aloud. Ugh.

they are also very bad at estimating TSB when you take 5-7 days off due to a sickness, etc. Qualitative only

the pmc is nice and all, but it isn't perfect. say i go and do a really hard 30 minute ride that only gives me say 50-55 tss (over threshold for 30 minutes). i'm going to be hella tired, even though my tsb is rising (if crl and atl are at the right thing. with my current ctl of -100 i would still go hella negative )

edit: also ctl is flawed in the sense that you lose fitness too quickly. i took a month and a half off, then came back and knocked out nearly 3 weeks at 800-900 tss without too much crazy fatigue. i look at it all th time, but i really only look at it seriously full on once my ctl has caught up to my body.

Short hill - Big gear repeats today (10 of them).

It's not a completely killer workout, but afterwards you definitely know you've been doing something. The bogies are 45 seconds @ 450 watts and 50 rpm. I pretty much hit the numbers. It was nice as it's the first time since my strength work on Monday that my legs didn't feel like they were going to shear off my body. It was hot today, so in 1 1/2 hours I went through 2 bottles of water and was still thirsty. The Halo headband is a good product, no sweat in my eyes and without it, there would have been plenty.

nah pulled that from garmin connect. Strava reads slightly different values.

I dont really want to discuss Strava, it gets kinda old.

EDIT: I look at most of my files on Strava because its web based(superior system). It doesn't have all of the analytical tools of WKO+(which I have at home) but it's fine. It gets me 80% of the way there and if I really need to look at something in depth, I can pull up WKO+.

Word to the wise: when updating Golden Cheetah to 3.0, make sure it finds all of your rides. I realized that after updating, GC did not see a number of rides from February and March. I should have noticed sooner that CTL was too low. After re-importing the rides, TSB is a slightly more reasonable (but still toasty) -37.

unless you spent the whole race off the front (in which, kudos whether or not you got caught), those numbers indicate that you got other things to worry about before worrying about power numbers.
