Tuesday night hammer fest. Hung on for the first 8km loop that we did for most of the way. Then the second time I knew my legs weren't there so I gave it one last ditch effort and stayed otf for ~3min before getting caught and cruising home. I need a little rest, legs are only about 80% right now.

Legs were significantly more sour than yesterday. I spun for an hour, again with an abnormally low HR. I wonder how long that will continue?

No. I did my first hard ride after coming back from broken ribs last night and it leaved something to be desired for race efforts (aka surges). Also, I promised the gf we'd go hiking this weekend.

Good luck if you are, though! What category will you be racing in? Maybe I'll see you starting in July.

Club 15km TT tonight, now route...

Power is higher, speed is slower...

Par for the course the last few weeks...

Think my body is telling me something...

Still in the 5's dangit. Just need 3 more points. If I stop getting injured I should have my upgrade by July, so we can race together then. Foothill circuit race maybe?

Valley Ride today, the usual cluster**** of 50+ people on two-lane roads..

Anyway I "won" one of the sprints, I think, but it's actually hard to tell where the actual sprints are.. in WA we always went for obvious town-line signs, here it seems to be invisible signs or some random tiny line across the shoulder.

Need to find a better outlet for midweek intensity, maybe I'll check out the Tuesday night deals in SJ instead.

track racing tonight - "train your weak points"
I got a couple sprints in, still need more work.

Got a couple of threshold efforts in, those weren't too bad.

Yesterday I rode up some hills in z3. It was good. Tomorrow is an hour of z1. Saturday will be a long ride with z3/4 efforts on climbs. So far my weeks are looking like this:

Monday night: wolfpack hustle. z4+, interval-ish riding.
Wednesday AM: real training. Pyramids, 5x20s, form sprints, etc.
(Thursday AM, if I don't have early morning meetings: club hammer ride. Not as many surges as monday, but consistant zoom.)
Friday morning: 60min z1
Saturday/sunday: club ride and races.

Training crit last night. Legs are pretty good, recovery is a weakness though. But definitely seeing signs of form. Starting to think more seriously about state RR at the end of the month, I might be able to be useful to the team. There's another weekday crit the Wednesday before the RR (Saturday). Beginning to wonder if I should skip that one to be totally fresh for the weekend.

Interesting to see what other people's weeks look like. Mine are pretty variable still because of weather and trying to be flexible for the wife, but I usually have the same goal except for rest weeks.

Monday - about an hour intervals
Tuesday - same, or practice crit
Wednesday off
Thursday - about an hour intervals
Friday - track racing
Saturday and Sunday are up in the air, but I generally take Saturday off and get a couple hours of tempo on Sunday.

Only like 5-7 hours a week, but they're all intense hours. That's enough for me right now, since I'm still very slow and I focus on short stuff.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who rides less on (non-race) weekends than during the week.

If it's a non-racing weekend, I usually only ride Saturday mornings. The rest of the day is gf time. Sundays I typically play Magic (yes, the card game) with some friends and/or go hiking/rock climbing. Also with the gf.

Make-up swim meet yesterday afternoon. Left work early at 4pm, got home with the family at 10:15.

Up early for basketball camp.

today i took the day off (usually train thursdays) due to a busy day at work and did some ab work instead. gonna ride tmrrw (fridays usually off), 2 hrs on sat, then race ladera ranch cat3 on Sunday and do well (mark my words).

For me, non-race/rest weeks typically look like:

M - Off
T - 1hr ez am, track PM
W - 2hrs z2/3 by feel, I allow myself a big window here
Th - 2hr - either 2x20's AM or Thursday Fiesta Worlds, depending on whether or not go out for rock climbing gym + food and drink w coworkers the night before. I kinda prefer 20's
F - Off
Sat - Hard group ride or longer solo ride ramping up towards latter half
Sun - however much Z2 I feel like depending on hangover status

Totally offtopic but: AWESOME. I played way back in the day, then hit mid-HS and stopped for years. Picked it back up ~4 years ago and stopped for another year-ish. Recently started playing with a group of friends on the weekends about two months ago and I'm really enjoying it again.

It's more for trading, but if you want to see how much your stuff is worth, deckbox.org is an awesome site. Hell, I might even be interested in some of the stuff you have

edit: my 2,000th post would be about Magic...

Speaking of swimming, the local city pool opened this week so I brought my suit and goggles to do laps for my off-the-bike day. It'll be drown-a-riffic.

My weeks for the past month or so have been:

Monday: Easy hour or so if I can
Tuesday: Tuesday night hammerfest or 4x5 min/km TT efforts
Wednesday: Ride if I can (never seems to be a good day for riding for me)
Thursday: Racing at speedway with team (~1hr total riding) or hard group ride
Friday: Ride if I can
Saturday: Openers or long ride if I can
Sunday: Race or long ride if I can

Lately I've been swamped with school work and days like today where it rains and I just have zero motivation to get out on the road.

Another set of 3x20's yesterday. Moving on to these from 2x20's has definitely been harder mentally, but physically not as bad as I thought. Did them outside this time up a hill. Managed to hit my 20 minute max again by going all-out on the 3rd rep when I should have been exhausted, which tells me I'm making some improvements! Woohoo

Couple hours z2 today, some sweet spot work friday, and then Tri-Valley crit (possibly twice?! they're opening a 2nd cat5 field) on Saturday.

Hill repeats tonight...

4x up the easier hill for warmup, then 4x up the harder one for the real work...

Ended up with 29miles and 3000ft of climbing, not a bad after work ride...

group ride that hurt way too much...

First climb out was 10mins long at 320W. I dunno if it was the constant surging or what but I was COOKED when I got to the top. Then we proceeded to hammer into the winds.

NP = 273
TSS = 183

I finished off with a trip to Chipotle...

My CTL is over 50 again....Woo hoo! I'm getting there. This weekend of low training because of having to be supportive of my girlfriends hobby won't help much though.
