prescriptivist seasons run 50% behind descriptivist seasons. It's always annoyed me.
Winter shouldn't start at the nadir of temp, it should encompass the quarter year with lowest average temps. This has always bugged me.

Just over 2 hours of Z2 this morning with a friend, then an easy commute into work.
Tomorrow is just commuting.
Thursday morning will be 3.5 hours of Z2 with a couple of higher intensity bits here and there to break the monotony.

You're right. Maybe it's a mental thing where I associate it being dark by 5pm with winter.
Training status: I'm getting the hang of time signatures, and switching between basic quarter, 8th and 16th notes. I picked up rolling relatively easily and my buddy made up some sheet music for me to practice with. Learning to play drums.
Wrist/arm is still pretty sore, gonna try to ride tomorrow morning and see how it goes.

2 hour group ride this am. Small and mellow group...everyone except me is riding the Tour De Tucson this coming Saturday. Too bad as I wasn't feeling particularly mellow!
I just bought a Garmin 500 from a friend, with HR strap. Should have it later this week. Not sure I will use the HR monitor as I have never used it in the past but might be fun to play around with HR. I'm just looking forward to having an accurate Garmin.

Did a 45 minute ride on my loop, fairly fresh and it was the first time I was actually putting forth a real effort after getting the vectors. Smashed PR's on the climb, by a fair bit. Felt pretty good but I did cramp some (yes, I didn't drink enough water) this morning. The fact that my breathing exercises have eliminated about 90% of my asthma has been a huge boost as well.
The power meter made a huge difference; I just set a wattage goal to maintain (240) and just stayed there. Still need to improve some things as my cadence avg was 70. My lungs were definately the limiter and not the legs.
Still I have a ton of work to do before the season starts; my Watts/Kg is embarassing.

70 cadence? ow.
you'll be stronger if you just shift down. there's also no way you're dehydrating enough in 1 hour to affect cramps (nor do recent studies indicate hydration being related to cramping anyway), again I would suspect cadence.

My stuff is already out there on Strava for praise and criticism anyways, why not add more data?

Cadence has always been an issue for me, even on flats. I'll go through a block of a month or two when I focus on cadence and get the average up to the low 80's but then regress once my focus is redirected toward other goals.

Agreed, but everyone is different. Some folks thrive on low cadence, but most don't. And you won't ever be a sprinter with that limitation. You could be a strong TT guy at low cadence and I have seen numerous examples. But who really wants that? That is more of a "tri" thing than a bike racing thing.
I would work on technique to improve my stroke if my average cadence was 70. It may be a limiter that is technique based and not genetic. Genetic limiters are beyond your control, but technique limiters are not.
Put it in the small ring and keep it there or get a fixie with small gears. And ride a lot in that configuration.

Did the crit course tonight, but there were only 3 other people out there and we were all doing our own thing. 40 minutes fairly easy but....my stupid garmin cut off every .3 of a mile every lap, and I probably lost about 5 miles of data.

2hrs last night with 60min of tempo. Had planned on riding the rollers, but got home to clear skies and light winds, but there was a chill in the air. Put on the umpteen layers of clothing and got the lights. When I headed out it was 2c and got home to just below freezing. Did the tempo utilizing HR and RPE, no power on this bike, which is ok since I can't see the Garmin screen in the dark. That is the one nice thing about the 800, a simple tap of the screen and you can do a spot check of HR or power if I had it.
