30' walk this morning,
40' swim this afternoon, and, most importantly:
30' spin this evening!
I decided to go for a spin (z1-3, a few light jumps) this evening to see how my back felt. Prior to this, I hadn't rode in nearly three weeks. There was no noticeable increase or worsening of symptoms after the ride, which is great! If anything, it felt a little better. My glute felt a little tight during certain portions of the ride, which of course worried me, but in hindsight it was probably just my mind as nothing bad developed or lasted.
This is great news. Next up will be another 30-45' spin on Tuesday, and I'll take it from there...

Did 2x15 @ 95% of my newly tested shiny FTP. A whopping 215. Moved from 3x10 at my old FTP to 2x15 at 95 % of my new FTP (which is pretty close to the same power). Working my way up slowly to longer FTP intervals. After a couple of weeks I'll move to 2x20.

Yes, haven't had a week like that since a couple weeks before the injury. However, my CTL had gone down to the low 60s. Brought it up to 70, but might need to tone it down for a couple weeks, or maybe alternate low/high weeks.
Starting to wonder if alternating would build fitness better than slogging through 3 weeks anyway (kind of an analogy to on day/off day for weight training). Problem would be once CTL gets over 100 a high week would take a LOT of time.
It's nice to have the option here. Actually, it's hardly an option. The flatter routes are upwards of 45 ft/mile!

Climbing group ride today. 53 miles, 1 mile vertical.
8 minute climb, 16+ minute climb, 11 minute climb. PRed the last 11 minute climb by a minute, as I'm usually somewhat fatigued by the time we climb it.
Happy with the efforts, especially considering I didn't get enough sleep and felt like **** this morning.
Recovery and a just-in-case job interview tomorrow.

Rode outside! First time since the July 4th crash.
Felt weak, like an old man. But it was great to roll around.
It'll be hard, but I need to avoid any and all races the rest of this season, and just focus on 2015.

Just in time for cross season, they'll even be passing out pain meds that may help with recovery, or glaucoma*.
*Since that seems to be the default 'reason' people need that medicine

I didn't know people actually had it! I just thought it was something stoners used to get prescription!

It's now been 6 weeks since that truck hit me. Still pain and discomfort but the neurologist told me today I may get my back brace off in 6 weeks. That's 12 total weeks with no training.
This will be interesting. I want to be back on my bike.
