1.5hrs REALLY slow today. Worked out some of the kinks in the legs from yesterdays long ride.
Now, I'm feeling prepared for my 18hr week coming up.

I fell behind on training this week but sort of caught up tonight completing my 2x20, I felt good. Mentally though, I think I might be going insane, this is like 5 months indoors with the exception of one weekend in January. Not whining, just simply thinking aloud . And I also just learned that Feb'r'uary is spelled like that.

Ugh. Map tested today, missed goal by 30W, coming in at 375W. I'm going backwards for some reason. I used to see MAP matching 5' power, usually w/in a couple watts. Not sure what to make of it, other than I'm going to have to race smarter this season, and that doesn't bode well for me...

I feel dumb asking, but what is MAP testing?
So many acronyms, so little time.

No problem. It's a Maximal Aerobic Power test. Here's the protocol I use: http://alex-cycle.blogspot.com/2006/...s-success.html

My best ever MAP (peak minute) was 500W. Now I'm down below 400 (was expecting 405)... Cue "Glory Days" by the boss

Cool, thanks! Think I'll be trying that out during my next round of testing after this build phase.
I've got a one hour guinea pig session with a computrainer and a phisiology grad student a couple weeks out.

The range is 73-76%, if I remember correctly. Mine usually correlates to ~74%.

Absolutely. I just wish the surgery and infection last year hadn't given me a 5 year head start on it. Oh well.

Recovery ride/commute this morning. Kept it in the little ring and watched the power. This is a first for me. I am really trying to avoid the trap of not going easy enough on easy days.

Duder, this morning as I was debating about taking the elevator up three flights because my legs were thrashed from the weekend, I realized that I'm no longer in my 30s, and I'm now in my mid-40s. Life is just that crap that happens to us while we're making our plans.

Achieved a goal I've been working towards for two years today!
There's a 70km/43.5mi segment of a longer ride that I do regularly that has 2275ft climbing.
I use it as a benchmark once a month, since it has a great mix of rollers, flats and a couple tough climbs.
Two years ago my times were in the 2'15"+ area. The goal has always been 2hrs even.
Today I managed 1'59"44"!!! Average of about 35kmh/21.75mph. Really happy with the effort, looks like base/build is going better than I had even hoped for.

Yep. I'm just happy to get through the first week of February without an ER trip this year (including a bike race). Last year was the gut, and the previous year was the brain rattle. I know the clock is ticking though -- I may have bought some karma time with the kidney stone in July...
