it's one the top schools in the world... of course it's pretentious. If I had the $$$$$ I would have gone... just a lowly Cal Poly SLO grad.

You are telling me there are those that don't take class on their estate grounds? Peasants are so quaint!

Leisurely group ride this morning until we were on a back road and some kids in a Jeep Liberty were going to fast around a turn in front of us coming towards us. They slid into an embankment somehow not flipping on its side, missed a pole by inches and slammed to a stop 5 feet in front of us. Scariest moment of my life. A couple guys approached them and they backed up and tore off again almost hitting an on coming car down the road. We were able to get the license plate and make and model to report it. If we would have been 5 second up the road closer to the turn he would have plowed through all of us! Thankfully we were all alright

Rode a metric, stopped by the Cross race. I didn't do it because I don't ride my cross bike a ton and figured it would be dangerous with my lack of experience. I was wrong; it seems all you really need is a pulse to race one of those. There were some legit guys there, but there were also a lot of guys that were no where near race fit. It did look like fun though.
Tomorrow is our 12th anniversary, and at this point I should not have to give my wife anything, but I'm taking her to Disneyland. Well, I'm riding my bike 70 miles to Disneyland and meeting her there.

Did the spectrum "race" ride, then added some for just over 4 hours today.
Only won two sprints, but was near the front for the others.
At 14 hours for the week, adding more tomorrow.

Rode down to the River Ride and then rode home afterward. Planned my time really poorly and had to hammer about 30 miles of MUP to make the ride. Wasn't feel too fast on the ride out, but got some new life coming in. Came in to the final sprint in decent position, but too much bumping led to some slowing. I could either pop out and just try to hammer to contest the sprint or realize it is November and throttle back to be safe. I eased up and kept it safe. Other wise, fun and fast ride today. 100 miles across 4 1/2 hours.

Thanks, having a powermeter has totally improved my training, and my coach is ace. He does the hard part, all I gotta do is ride how he tells me to ride.

i was 3w/kg for 9h (over 2 days) in the 4s years ago and wasn't even on the podium. i'm sure you rode faster/harder this year in a higher category, so that seems surprising to me.

AP on day 1 was 250 so 3.125 for me. Lower on day 2. That's AP.. reality was more like 4 hours are 4.4 and 1.5 hours of 0..
If you did the race in 9 hours this year you'd have won by an hour.

AP doesn't tell the whole story, i agree. 3w/kg for a 5h training ride may not be the greatest EC predictor.

Spectrum as well. Took off a couple minutes from one sprint after following a guy bridge a gap. Thought I was gonna take it, then just as the line was coming up I glanced back to see if I was clear and saw Matt come charging past and no one else in contention (just a few tired guys haha).
Added on a 40' climb for 3.5 hours, 2700 kJ.

basic math fail for me! checked and was 12h not 9.....but so 3w/kg for 12h. different course this year vs then, obvi. you could look at your power data for day 1 for that 1st year, though.

Fine, fine. I was extrapolating more from my pre-EC ride 2 weeks before the race where I dragged a small group around in z2/z3 for 5 hours and came out with the same w/kg as AP, then went to EC and had like +~8% AP from a much different breakdown. Everyone knows all cyclists have the same profiles and w/kg is universally applicable.
I was just impressed. I don't know many guys who would put down that kind of effort over 5 hours. Good ride.

TT bike yesterday on Canada road for a couple of loops and it felt amazingly good. Gym later in the day for some core work.
