That's probably a good thing.

Without rest you'll never really get stronger.

Then the last couple months should be awesome for me!

80 minutes on the trainer. Legs a little tired so no real efforts. No pain, which leads me to believe that the physical therapist I saw is some sort of black magic voodoo doctor.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. :)

Those of you coming down to my neighborhood over the winter should really check out Madera Canyon, esp. if you plan to ride the Shootout as the climb up the canyon takes off from this ride and several people do that each week. As good as Lemmon but relatively unknown. It is a ~13 mile climb that gradually gets steeper with the end at 15%+. So beautiful up there as you enter into oak forest above the surrounding desert.

TMonk 12-07-14 01:52 PM

I did some reading about Madera after @robabeatle myself as well. I'm definitely intrigued.

I have some family in Tuscon and end up out there once a year-ish, so it is definitely a bucket list ride for me now.

Getting down to 140lbs this season. All of the watts per kg. Well, a lot of them.

Similarly, I'm done w/ grad school - thesis went in a couple of days ago.
I moved to Bend OR a few days ago, started a new job (which is better than multiple part-time things), and now am trying to figure out what I want to do with this next year and my glaring lack of an accessible velodrome.
If XC ski and XC mtb racing don't work out, I might even go back to being a roadie.

First day in town, I was riding home from work in freezing rain and fell pretty hard on my hip- 4 days later it is still messed up, oops.

So, there's that?
Dunno, today I'm scoping routes and race calendars today.

Hida Yanra 12-07-14 02:10 PM

On a similar note - the lady and I have a 2.5bdr in town by the river, feel free to hit me up if Bend is in the cards for training camps/racing for ya'll. All are welcome, but you'll be in charge of washing dishes.

Cat+dog are friendly, wife is a nice person, and then there's me.

hubcyclist 12-07-14 03:08 PM

34 degrees and 33 miles. Was fine except for feet, definitely need some shoe covers

TheKillerPenguin 12-07-14 03:22 PM

For the first time in my life I can say I had a relaxing 5hr ride and not mean it sarcastically.

furiousferret 12-07-14 03:36 PM

42 miles, 5000 feet climbing, 162 TSS. The Garmin ate the file so all that data; which included some good efforts (maybe my best) are gone. The bad thing is the route is new so I can't copy an old gpx and change the dates.

During my descent at Oak Glen a grey Scion slowed down and braked checked me hard. Totally intentional. I turned hard just missing the bumper and luckily there was a dirt patch to ride on.

TheKillerPenguin 12-07-14 03:40 PM

What a **** head. Glad you're ok

congrats...nice to get it done

Bend is high desert-ish?

mattm 12-07-14 05:18 PM

4.5 hours with some team dudes today, legs are beat.

19 hours, 1k TSS for the week.

Hit 1200w 5-sec sprint for a city limits sign, 1008w 10-sec. Best in a while!

Time to get horizontal and eat.

jsutkeepspining 12-07-14 05:19 PM

Saturday: 3 hours w/ 2x30 tempo pushing to threshold on the hills
Sunday: 4 hours with the team. A decent amount of kjs and a big ass tss number.

yup, high desert.

Just got my final comments from my committee- and the worst one was, "your conclusion should be stated more firmly"... should get them mopped up today and tomorrow, sign off on this thing by bedtime Monday. #awwwwwwyiiiiiss

nice...getting the final sig's and walking out of the filing appointment was a great feeling. quite a relief and looking forward to guilty free riding.

caloso 12-08-14 01:00 AM

As it turns out, I was able to make most of my team winter camp. 3 hours of climbing on Saturday. 2 hours of tempo and a little more climbing today. Really suffered on Saturday but found my legs this morning.

Best part was was just hanging out and shooting the **** with the boys.

Wylde06 12-08-14 07:18 AM

1:45 on the trainer yesterday. Nothing special. Legs were tired the first half, then I found some energy right I was about to end it early and kept going. Feels good to get some back to back days in..now I just need to start riding more consistantly during the week.

I think, since my leg seems to be fine these last couple weeks, that I might subject myself to a FTP test in the next couple weeks. Although I was planning on doing it after the 1st of the year, if there is a nice weekend coming up I will take advantage of it. I don't plan on doing it on the trainer.

if your training is going to primarily be on the trainer for the next few months, it would make sense to do your test on the trainer as well.

glad to hear you're back at it though!

Nice. THat is awesome.

rkwaki 12-08-14 11:01 AM

Nice ride yesterday. 70 minutes solo, lots of watts blew up a spoke mid climb which sounded like a gunshot going off.

This riding in the cold thing is for the birds...

Every test I did last year was outside, even though I spent quite a bit of time (to me anyways) on the trainer. I figure I will keep doing things the same way

Me too..feels good to be able to ride and not have my hip/leg hurt for no reason.

bmcphx 12-08-14 11:11 AM

I feel some patellar tendinitis coming on (have dealt with it before) so I'm going to raise my saddle a bit and spin easier this week, then hopefully back on the grind.

Hermes 12-08-14 11:18 AM

It's all about the treble.

Saturday... 1:45 on Canada Road TT course riding non stop tempo - road bike. I did three loops and the last one was .95 FTP in the drops. This was my best training effort on that course since I started racing.

Sunday... Omnium track race - Flying 200 m, Flying one lap (333m), 500 m, kilo and 2k pursuit. I did all five events M40+. We had a great time and fun with friends with good racing conditions.
