I'm feeling a lot better tonight. All day today my symptoms have been less of a flu (got sick on Tues) and more of a head cold, but I know I'm on the up and up now because I'm in a great mood and feel high energy.
Tomorrow morning I'm gonna do an hour of z2ish on the road, then play it by ear over the weekend. No Rosena Ranch CR for me though , I'm gonna sit this one out. That's two botched weekends in a row for me
New plan starting next week: Build up CTL (carefully!), rest up the following week to be fresh at Roger Millikan (2/8/2015), and race the following two weekends as well. After 2/1 I'm going to switch gears, drop volume and focus on shorter, race-specific workouts.

Marble came up in conversation with my gf earlier, and I actually explained your analogy to her. She was like "wtf lol?!?!?!"

Moved my saddle forward 1/2 an inch and my glutes are firing off like they should. Actually my whole leg feels in tune for the first time in a while. Since I've been happy with my power numbers, I really haven't paid attention to fit, and evidently it was off.
Three hours riding at night, 1000 kj, 100 TSS. Tuesday's hammeraging screwed up my week, legs are still sore. Some teenager tried to hit my butt while I was riding. I'd be okay if it was a girl, but it wasn't. I blame Glee. #teenagerish #nightrider

My friend gave me British chocolate which is way better than American, that didn't last long even while eating donuts to wash it down.

Low cadence high force work last night. After the 3rd effort, my left knee had a slight pain on the left side. I decided that was enough. Sometimes, my knees and back get angry from those efforts and I have learned that I do not want to push it. I have a lot of time to train hard. My knee is fine today.
I went to the gym and did some core and additional leg work. My knee was fine.

Seems like low cadence is a common theme lately...because I did some low cadence intervals last night. 2 sets of 5x2 @70rpm

Rest day today, looking forward to my scheduled roller session tomorrow. Start with 2x20 SST, then an hour tempo with 6x3min VO2Max efforts thrown in, then another hour of tempo. Prolly watch Flanders, the YouTube videos of the full broadcast are about the right duration.

help me understand something. I went out today for a 40 miler, not going too hard, I didn't bring enough calories and could feel my legs fading half way through, so I dialed it back and just spun the rest of the way home. By the time I got back into town, I was feeling pretty damn miserable that I was starting to feel dizzy, so I stopped by a gas station to get some mtn dew. The quick sugar boost helped tremendously, and within a couple of minutes, I was spinning about 4 mph faster and not feeling like ****. but then suddenly, my legs started to cramp up real bad. I tried to spin it out, and it helped a little. But by the time I got home, it was so overwhelming I couldn't stand, and my legs locked up a few times before I could even get up and walk.
I get bonking, but I don't understand why I suddenly started to cramp so bad. Did the caffeine boost from the mtn dew send my body a false message that I could handle it, and I overworked the muscles?

You shouldn't NEED calories on a 40 mile ride. I can do up to 50 miles without calories (our saturday hammer ride) no problem, but prefer to bring something to make refueling easier, and to maximize any efforts later in the ride. If it's hot I could drink 4 bottles in 40 miles, if it's cold I might barely make it through one bottle.

Why would you not eat an actual breakfast and go for a 40 mile ride with not enough food and then think that a Mountain Dew would make things right?

Yes, I ALWAYS eat breakfast. Always have, and especially when I ride breakfast is crucial.
