Training Status??? (III)

Wow, reduced volume sucks. I skipped one workout and two commutes this week in preparation for my race next weekend, and I'm fantasizing about waking up at 5 to go out and ride. But I won't because it's rest day tomorrow, just like yesterday. Wtf has gotten into me? Lol.

This has been a rest week, and I am loving it. Just commuting to work, no other riding. With the weather we've had, that's more than enough riding outdoors.

3 hours on XC skis. Drove to the preserve to ski for an hour with my wife, then she drove home and I backcountried it back to the house. Broke trail almost the whole way back, including down this bad boy. Conditions are still fantastic. A bit windy today.
12 hours on skis in the past week. My shoulders hurt!

Jeez man.
So do you basically just do threshold all the time? (not saying it's bad)

Menko has numbers like this. It comes from having a power curve that's weighted on the left. Anyway, he'll do a 12 hour week and average an IF of .9 or something ridiculous. His ftp is set correctly per multiple tests.

yeah my IF isn't quite that high, but definitely skewed in that direction. Keep in mind the aside from a couple of outliers the longest race I'll do this season is 90 minutes, with most being an hour or less.

Damn, if all I did was warm up, intensity, cool down I'd probably be around 0.75 IF

Day off, because 1) I would rather not ride in the Atmospheric River; 2) I hate my trainer; and 3) five days in a row is my limit.

yes life is horrible here.
actually it doesn't matter where you are, just that you find a way to enjoy it.

People do actually enjoy the northeast. It's really not a slight that we don't lament or even prefer where we live.

Two Twenties, 7 pm in the 60's just my kit no baselayer.
I'm trying to reorganize my training to adapt to a race schedule. I used to always have Fridays off, but if I race Sunday that means a light Saturday, which = low tss week. Trying out seven days a week, with Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays (race Sunday) as my high intensity days, and Saturday as easy volume, then race Sunday. I could kill myself Saturday, but I'd like to position myself to have the best form possible for race day.
thoughts?
