I got a good workout yesterday and walked around the desert museum (a kind of zoo) today. Maybe some uphill/downhill sprints tomorrow. We'll see. I'd like to get a hike with the kids as well. We'll see how it all plays out.

Well, I ended up hiking (Sabino Canyon) with my daughters and nephew (8/5/8 years old). It was a little more than 2 hours. After that I did a strength workout. Overall, plenty of physical activity.

I could have gotten on a bike and gone up Mt. Lemmon (I'm basically at the intersection of Catalina Highway and Snyder...the base of the climb). The truth is that it wasn't an accident that I didn't bring a bike. It was planned because ultimately family is just more important. Not to say I didn't watch all these folks riding by and think...

A couple barley recovery drinks tonight and a long drive tomorrow. It makes for a very happy Thanksgiving.

River Ride this morning was big, fast, and relatively smooth so I just sat in and treated it as a SST ride as much as possible. 3-ish hours overall and 204tss.

13 hours. Can't think of the last time i did 13 hours in a week.

Unlike Thursday's long ride, which sucked royally, today's ride went very well on basically the same terrain.

I got in 14 hours last week. 3 of them were hiking/running. Not what I was looking for over the weekend but my body spoke to me. I listened.

With my last ride being Thursday, I can probably start up again today if the weather holds together. Not sure what I'll be doing - I think it may be about time to throw in some LT intervals.

Goals for the next two weeks:
Dial in a first pass TT position and be on the TT bike at least 3 times.
Acquire mountain bike and set up tubeless. Time myself over the standard trails.

I've got at least 3, maybe 4 marathon mountain bike races coming up in the next 2 months to help fill out my base.

Tough rides this weekend. Been fighting off a cold and been traveling back and forth to places for thanksgiving, so that didn't help.

sat - 2.5hr w/ 3x10min at sub threshold and below 80rpm.
sun - 3.5hr at endurance pace

No riding Monday-Friday. Felt great. Lifted twice.

Rode 6 1/4 hours total over the weekend on the MTB. Perfect weather to ride in the woods.

Headed to Savannah, GA this weekend to visit a friend of my wife's. Bringing the road bike and plan to ride a ton.

Rest week coincided with Thanksgiving week, which was handy. Still a bit of a struggle to squeeze in the time I had allotted. 3:45 yesterday just about did it, but that much volume in a single day isn't really as restful as I'd like. All the traveling probably wasn't much help, either. I'm also continuing to have some highly variable, idiosyncratic knee issues - nothing serious enough to have cut into training time just yet, but it's driving me crazy and I worry about it developing into something worse. I think the root cause was raising my saddle a bit too much a month or so ago, so I've dropped it and hope it'll go away. On top of that, I should probably get better at getting sleep. One of my ongoing weaknesses.

Have you done the Airport Ride yet? I think Dan hits it pretty religiously.

45 minutes on the trainer at lunch. whoopee.

I'm planning on hitting an Airport Ride or two. Was out of town last weekend and next weekend, but hoping to hit it some in late december/january. Didn't want to do it earlier in the month because I'm trying to keep the intensity low, looks like it's pretty aggressive even sitting in for November.

4.25 hours mostly Z1/Z2 but a few easy-ish intervals thrown in at random. Not even commuting by bike tomorrow.

1.5 hours strength work / 1.5 hours riding. Toasted. The off time was good, though. Legs felt surprisingly frisky.

5:20 zone 2 ish. It went as endurance rides should be: temp was in the low 30s for most of the entire ride, I got coffee, stopped at a bike shop and looked around a bit, rode some dirt/gravel, hit up a pump track on the way home.

First 1' intervals since 2011! Was not pretty.
4x1x5: 540W, 580W, 550W, 500W

I was doing the 70% recoveries though, but that doesn't explain the first one that was about 100W lower than expected. Last week I questioned my motivations for doing AWC and VO2 for this block, but now I'm glad I am -- I need to get those systems going again. Week 1 of 3 now... Next block will be base again, I think -- need to look at a calendar again.

If these followed your "test" format - all out from go, how were your 5" numbers?
