1.5 hour spin to loosen the legs, they feel like ass after the three races last weekend and 15, 13, 9 hours the last few weeks.

Now it's time to let the rain come for a few days, sit back, and get stronger.. I hope. Then on to San Dimas.

Used the ride home as interval training. Tabatas with a backpack isn't optimal, but then if I only trained under perfect conditions, I'd never get any work in.

Two 3.5 hr rides this weekend and then a 12hr day at work today. Got home to late and with no motivation to do anything, at least my cold is gone. Hopefully tomorrow.

Been averaging about 100 miles a week recently. Not quite my goal but family etc comes first. Feeling good about the first race of the season this Saturday albeit no teammates. Hopeful for intervals on the commute home.

Curse you, Norovirus. Curssssseeeee youuuuuuuu!!!!!!

Most of the past week off. 3hr ride on Saturday (surprisingly okay considering i hadn't been able to eat in a few days), 1hr z2 ride yesterday (surprisingly awful but not entirely unexpected). Finally able to keep food down so have been snarfing everything in sight. Figure a couple of weeks to full recovery and I'll be good to go.

Went out for my normal monday night ride (basically intervals for 40ish miles).

After 11 miles of high tempo I took a long turn at the front in some gnarly headwind - 95% effort for ~3:45. Stopped to regroup. Start back up and the legs are completely gone. Struggled for a few more miles and decided to pack in up and head home. First time I have ever had to do that on this ride in over a year. Rest day today.

while i was out riding today i lost my quarq magnet. it was about 20 minutes into my ride, but i decided to kep going anyway. RPE is pretty good, i think i hit all my targets pretty well (hr confirms). This is why i like having my powermeter, it fine tunes my sensations

Weird fitness stuff going on after vacation. Had a recovery week before vacation, then went and skied in CO, along with some running up and down a hill at 10,200ft in Leadville. I get back to Austin and my knee is sore (loosened it up in a sprint/handlebar hit 3 wks ago). Legs generally suck, power is ok, and I'm not breathing hard like ever.

I think my legs are a bit down b/c of the knee, the skiing, and the off weeks. I think the breathing is a result of spending a week high up in the mountains.

Interesting. I wonder how it will all pan out. Traveling to DC tomorrow, so that will spin the wheel again on what kind of fitness prize I get when I come back.

But how are the muscles of the legs? DOMS kicked in?

They feel wooden. The power looks ok though, so what I think is happening is that my legs degraded, resp and cardio improved. Now my legs are fighting to burn the oxygen available, and able to get back up to normal power levels, but it hurts a lot more, and I have to back off every so often. I'm sure this will only last a couple days though.

It's just been a while. Last year when I did this, I was still way off from the surgery and infection, and the year before that, I was coming off 6 weeks off due to the concussion.

I need to get out for at last an easy spin today, having a hard time motivating. It's easy being lazy.

Three one-minute kicker hill repeats in an otherwise unnoteworthy lunch ride. I thought I was fading fast with each repeat (the loop I took spaced them apart by 5 minutes or so), but I was within 2 seconds and +/- 10W for each of them. They felt progressively harder though (as they should). Decent but not great power numbers. I need to do more short interval workouts.

Ah, got out for an hour. Easy. That was nice. Felt good, but then... I did go easy. Still, I'm beginning to develop delusions of grandeur. I have some form! What to do with it?
