Mine maxed out at around 73 in mid-June after a month of averaging about 10 hours a week (started from low 40's, where it had been hovering for a while). And I mostly wasn't doing anything super hard. So, yeah... it does sound low. But TKP does do a heck of a lot of Z2 riding, yeah?

I forgot to mention I measure my measure CTL per leg. Combine the two together and it's like 162.

Much of it is basically 55-57% for keeping metabolism going and legs remembering they're supposed to pedal long time. Fairly typical week is Monday off, tuesday 1.5hrs recovery ~20tss, Wed some sort of 3-4hr intervals ~150tss, Thu some sort of 3ish hr volume thing ~100tss, Fri easy ~15-20tss, Sat openers ~60tss, Sun race ~180-200tss. My FTP is like 7 horsepower, or roughly 2 Fiat 500s.

Do you feel like this actually accomplishes the goal of having you be fresher thane everyone else at hour 3-4 of a RR? To me it seems incredibly boring to do a 4 hour 150 tss ride, but if it works it works.

It does seem to work and I enjoy the riding since it is pretty around here, way more often than not I'm present and accounted for at the finish but hesitate and am a sissy about sprinting.

I just pedal and let the dude I respect enough to pay to do the thinking do the thinking and then hop on bikeforums and inflate my numbers.

40miles/19mph primarily Z2 HR, had a little hop in my step or something today (not any windier than usual), it was fun. Thankfully the heat hasn't fully settled here, because it's going to be toasty this week.

We'll give you a pass on that as the book sounds interesting and I'm impressed you listen to a book while riding!

Was off the bike for 2 weeks due to a family vacation. Did a lot of walking and actually lost a few pounds, but also a lot of bike fitness. CTL dropped from 88 to 65. This morning I went out to do my first structured ride in since July 9. It was a real struggle and I estimate my FTP is down 10%.

thanks to weekly training crits and haaard group I broke 4w/kg wall FTP (300w) I been hitting. And thats with CTL 88... wonder what it would be with ctl 100

I gained 5 lb though while doing it 165 being 5'10" tall

hence my question - what is better: shed that 10-15 lb to get down to 150-155lb, or keep 165 and work harder on getting more power? my body fat is around 10-12% now and i can safely lose 5-7 lb but i I afraid to lose more in terms of w/kg

thank you guys for advises some time ago, btw.

Depends on what you care about...losing 10-15 isn't going to help much for crits but will mean a lot for 'some' road races.

Not a coach or nutritionist, but losing weight is a good way to improve w/kg. At 10-12% bf you're at the point where it does take some directed effort, probably. What you should do is NOT worry about losing weight now in the mid-season. As you know, trying to lose weight while doing higher intensity training is a bad idea. Losing weight during the prep and base period in the fall and winter is the way to go. Then you just need to maintain weight in-season.

losing 10% bodyweight and maintaining power = much easier to get pace back in crits.

Of course, maintaining power is the key part, and my guess is there is a bf% that starts to tail off.

Yes it was, and I am loving it. 6 more weeks and I'll be missing it.

Just a a quick one hour jaunt to loosen up the legs that were blocked to hell after the fundo.
