2 hrs of tempoish riding. 99tss. Power fell off a cliff after 70' or so. Must have been from my blood donation last week.

Raced cyclocross today. I can still turn a bike, but crap am I slow. I've got work to do, and some motivation to do it, now. Back on the horse!

~70 mile group ride today with about 27 stops -first ride since the crash 8 days ago. Started by having intestinal distress the whole way up the first 20 minute climb, to the point that we stopped so I coult take a ****. Kind of embarrassing, but what can ya do? tried sprinting to the turn for lunch break and pulled my shoe right out of the pedal at maximam force. Then broke the rear derailleur cable and finished the last hour in 39/12 or 52/12. That could have been worse though - luckily it happened just at the top of Tunitas Creek, the last significant climb of the ride. Overall, a week off the bike had me feeling really strong, but right now my legs feel worse than ever before walking down stairs haha

Sunday - Two hours, 200 TSS with the team. Hammer up climbs, try to recover, hide, hammer up climbs, repeat.
Got home feeling pretty whipped, and promptly got sick about 30 minutes later and have felt like **** since. I had been kind of fighting a cold for a week or so, and I think my body just gave up after that ride.

2:30 group smashfest, 42mi, 3,100ft. Had some trouble getting my HR up, even though the legs felt decent. Hour of intervals tomorrow morning and then I'll take it easy before Mt. Tam (get some proper sleep). Not sure how accurate the "training load" data is on strava, but it says 36 hrs of recovery for last night's ride.

Jandro, if you're using Strava to "analyze" your power data, you might as well just give your SRM to me!! Just download Golden Cheetah or the WKO+ trial, upload your data, and see the pretty graphs in action.

Both GC and WKO are pretty useful in tracking effort, but they both have some pretty big holes in them as well, this become apparent after you really learn the software. Still both>>>Strava.
I'd suggest downloading and keeping a separate set of .srm files, there's great utility to having data in it's native format and there is some pretty cool software starting up out there that looks like it will blow both GC and WKO out of the water that uses native .srm files.

I don't use my power data "seriously" I guess. I use GC, but mostly for tracking power/time PRs. I could totally switch to Strava if they had any implementation of fixing the random power spike for 2 seconds I see once every 6 months.
But they don't, so I don't, and I use gc v.2.x because it's "not that bad".

Not that there's anything wrong with that
From either a coaching or racing perspective being able to break down that data provides the best path to success. In both cases though (GC and WKO) there's an assumption that all people respond the same to the same training stress based on and relative to FTP. Which is kinda silly if you say it out loud. There's a lot of dogma out there based on that assumption ("you must have a CTL of X") that people take as absolute truth.
Strava is just based on a much broader set of assumptions, so other than one metric (time over distance), it's all darts at a dart board.
Probably not possible with the Garmin...just thought of that. The other software will also use .fit I believe.

The problem with Strava's interpretation of the data is that you can't change your CP without it affecting all previous rides, and the inability to fix power spikes, input estimated stress from now-power-metered rides, etc., etc...
Plenty of issues but the skeleton of a workable/usable chart is there. Workable/usable enough to suit my needs, at least.

2hrs w/5x3min Power Intervals...
Bloody hot today! We went from temps in the mid-teens on the weekend to the mid 30's with humidity. Talk about a shock to the system....

For the next few months I plan to just have fun on the bike. A couple of cross races, some competition with friends, long easy rides, whatever suits the mood. Focus mental energy on losing 15 lbs (5'9, target 140). Boot the training up in December.

Nah, there's a couple of hills around here of that steepness. There's even one that avg's 16+% for 1k. I'd do that one more often, but the back side of it is the worst dirt you can imagine, and I sure as hell don't want to descend back down that wall after climbing up it, so I save it as a once and a while treat.
