Rode with a few guys then branched off to ride home. I was cruising along real good until I suddenly lose air in the rear tire. I get off to inspect wtf happened and I have a huge gash in the tire...I put a dollar bill and prayed it would hold for 20 miles to my house. My girlfriend is out of town so I would of had to call my parents for help.

I made it but I was nervous haha.

3:20 mostly Z2 with a massive Z4 effort to keep up with some friends. Race tomorrow.

It was more of overall fatigue. My whole leg just gave out on me after overdoing it on the bike. Nine days off seems to have fixed it. I have a muscle in my leg that was surgically repaired last year which hurts all the time and during that time it really hurt. There's a chance I may have to go under the knife again but I'm trying to stall until after my vacation in the fall (which is paid for).

Unfortunately when you're old like I am, pains and aches are pretty common. If I didn't train when my body didn't feel right, I'd never get on the bike.

@hack Its a fairly big change, and we're taking it easy to let things adapt, nothing over 100 tss. Just getting over the flu, and the injury its hard to tell but it seems like there is more power in my legs.

I'll be honest, I dont notice most **** with bikes unless its obvious **** like di2 vs sram. I can't tell the difference between frame stiffness, wheel stiffness, tires, etc. I've been riding awhile and all of it feels the same to me.

That said, mounting tires is a huge PITA with these rims. This is the first "flat" I got with them. They're wide which is nice and supposedly give a better tire profile(meh I dont believe it, and I used to develop tires for a living). I run 25mm tires with them and they're fine, inflate to 90 psi, I'm 170 lbs.

This is my powertap wheel by the way.

Haha, the set that I am picking up is a powertap rear with a DT Swiss 240 front. I will also be using Conti tires. Weird.

I don't really notice eqiupment changes on my bike either, unless it's something dramatic. I'm hoping that running a 23mm wide rim will have a perceivable difference on the ride quality of the wheels.

Also, I hope that your tire mounting issues is a specific rim/tire combo that won't apply to me

whatever dude, i just see you doing a lot of counterproductive ****. you referred to whatever the hell was wrong with your leg as tendonitis and lowering your bars by inches that soon after a hamstring injury sounds really boneheaded to me, but you do you!

Full faith and credit of the United States of America backing you up. A dollar bill is surprisingly strong as the fibers they use are really good. I've done quite a few boots like that (though none of the cuts were that bad), and they've held on for thousands of miles

Yeah, but does a $20 bill make a better boot than a $1 bill?

Realized the crit was a 1.5 hour drive EACH way from my house. Had zero motivation to drive that far so I just went out and did some sprint intervals. 2 hours of fun, met another dude on the road we chatted a bit.

Time for food!

First team ride of the season, it's finally behaving like spring, held my own for the most part.

Got popped of the main break sooner then I would have liked on the way into town, but held off a small chase group.

Overall happy with today's outcome.

As a plus I dropped my ex-wife

Rode around town, stopped a lot to watch the Redlands Classic. Nice to see the pro's struggle on this hill (albeit much faster than me).

1:46 of zone 2/3 with a bit of threshold mixed in.
Allowed myself to go a bit harder than planned due to missing one of my races yesterday.

Went out for about 2 hours, amazing day for riding. Me and my dad were accompanied by a lone rider from our local group which was cool, rode with him for about an hour.
@rbart4506 Speedriver had the first group ride of the year today as well, the original scheduled ride was posted on April fool's day, and had 7 loops of rattlesnake on it.. LOL good fun.

Dollars are great. If it's wet out, you can also often find some mylar trash on the roadside. Makes a fine boot (like a granola wrapper, or bags from many types of chips -- shiny metal looking on the inside). I have a chips bag rubber-banded to my spare tube, and just tear off a piece whenever a training partner or I need one.

I carry a 3" section of old tire with the bead cut off to use as a boot. keeps flat against the tube and I forget I have it until I need it.
